A Very Special Birthday

Happy Friday!

Today I wanted to share a little about the birthday celebration we had for my mama a couple of weeks ago, as she just celebrated a birthday with a zero at the end of it! Those, of course, have to be celebrated a little bit more, or at least a little more uniquely! 😉

We went with a birthday celebration for my incredible mama that was unlike any of the birthday celebrations any of us (particularly she!) had had before! We had a small, intimate dinner party here at my house, so I got to make a menu and get flowers and set a table, which were all just way too much fun for my dinner party loving self!

But the real treat for my mom was in the food. And even moreso, the chef! First, here are a few snaps of the setup!

So a little more about the food. My mama, around the new year, did the Whole 30 diet with my dad. They lost weight we didn’t even know they had to lose, and they ended up feeling just completely incredible, so they’ve pretty much stuck to it since then! Of course, there are times for splurges and they’ll sneak a glass of wine in when the situation calls for such, but for the most part, they keep things as Whole 30 as possible!

So when my dad, my brother, and I decided that we wanted to have a nice dinner party and that it would be really cool to hire a private chef, we all immediately thought of the same guy: Jeremy Enfinger.

I met Jeremy when I worked for a food blog (he was the executive chef at Ruth’s Chris at the time) and Jordan (my brother) and his company have Jeremy do their Christmas dinner every year. My dad loves County Seat, which is Jeremy’s super awesome restaurant out at The Town of Livingston. We just knew Jeremy was our guy. So when we asked him if he could be a part of our celebration and he said yes, of course we were thrilled!

Then I told him about Whole 30. (In case you’re unfamiliar, it’s a very earthy diet, for lack of a better term. Lots of fruits and veggies and lean meats. No dairy, refined flour, or refined sugar. There are other guidelines, but that just gives you an idea.) I knew Jeremy could come up with a Whole 30 compatible menu because he’s just that good, but he took it and completely ran with it! And came up with pretty much the most incredible meal that any of us have ever tasted!

We did tell him that he could cheat on dessert and wander over into some refined flour or sugar if he needed to. Totally worth every bit of cheat!

All of the produce was locally grown, much of it at The Farmacy, which is a cute little farm about 300 yards from County Seat! The pig that the pork came from was actually butchered by Jeremy himself a couple of days prior to the event! Talk about fresh meat! He made everything from scratch. And he prepared much of it in our kitchen! He did have to do some things beforehand, but what he could do at our house, he did. It was so much fun to watch him as we noshed on his charcuterie platter (which did have a little cheese on it for us non Whole 30ers!)

Not only did Jeremy prepare the outstanding meal, but he served it, kept drinks full, and cleaned up the kitchen (dish washing included!) at the end! Then he hung out and chatted with us, which was such a blast.

I highly recommend, if you are looking for something a little different and special for your next milestone event, to hire Jeremy. He does things right. We genuinely enjoyed every bit (and bite!) of what he did for us. Thank you, Jeremy, for making my overly deserving mama’s birthday such a memorable one! And HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY, MAMA!! We love you!!!!

Y’all have a great weekend! XO!
