Cantina Laredo

Cantina Laredo at The District at Eastover in Jackson, MS

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to visit a new restaurant in The District at Eastover, Jackson’s newest multipurpose development, not once but TWICE recently! And y’all, it is so good…

It’s called Cantina Laredo. And I recommend you going…

I am a massive fan of Mexican food. Sadly, my love for it and frequent requests for it have completely burned my poor husband out on fiesta food. He’s a trooper and still indulges me somewhat frequently because, well, I guess he loves me 🙂

In contrast to that, thankfully, my closest friends love Mexican! So if ever I’m having a craving and Price isn’t feeling it, I can pretty easily pull a friend group together to go indulge! This aforementioned scenario has happened twice lately, so I’ve gotten to have two girls nights at Cantina and they have been SO much fun! Partly because of the fab company, but in large part due to the fantastic food and atmosphere!

Cantina Laredo, which boasts modern Mexican fare, is a design lover’s paradise. The interior selections are spot on. Tiled walls, interesting lighting, some pops of mid-century modern, a GORGEOUS bar and patio area… It’s seriously just beautiful. Which perfectly sets the stage for the beautiful food!

Although both meals have been fantastic, the things I think I most enjoyed (and ended up having on both visits) were (1) their house margaritas, frozen with salt, (2) the dark salsa that comes complimentary with chips, (the lighter one is good, too, but that dark one is just MMMM!!) (3) the table side guacamole, and (4) the brownie on their dessert menu! It is loaded with calories, I’m sure, but it is just to die for. I believe it’s because it comes on a sizzling skillet with a big scoop of ice cream and some fabulous brandy butter sauce poured on top. I get hungry just thinking about it!

On my first visit, I ordered tacos as my entree. They were fab! On visit number two, our waitress was pretty passionate about the fajitas, so I gave those a whirl, and they, too, were just incredible! Very very fresh. I have yet to be disappointed by anything I’ve ordered!

Here’s a peek of what you have waiting for you if you haven’t gotten the chance to check it out yet!

Cathy and I had a wonderful meal and fun time there on Sunday evening with your precious parents and the Taggart’s. The only thing better than the food was the company.
