I LOVE a good party! I love throwing them, organizing them, attending them, thinking about them after they’re over… There are very few aspects of party throwing and going that I don’t love!
So when we decided that we wanted to have a little gender reveal party for this new baby, my wheels immediately started turning!
I wanted to do something that I hadn’t seen done much before. I knew I didn’t want to reveal with a cake or confetti (not that those aren’t great ways to do it! I just wanted something different.)
Then it hit me as I was walking down my favorite aisle at Target… This little piñata (well, one similar) called out to me and it was then that I decided that we’d do a mexican themed party and do the reveal by busting the piñata!! FIESTA FOREVAH!
I started designing the invitation in my head and eventually transferred the design to the computer. It was fun working with pretty much any color I wanted! And I was pretty happy with how the invites turned out!
For about a month, I would look for deals on decor that I thought would be good for the partay. I also kept an eye out for pink candy and blue candy. This was harder than I expected! So we ventured out from just pink or just blue to pink+red+purple and blue+green with some metallic gold+silver for filler!
When people walked in the party, there was a table with instructions to put on one of these mustaches if your guess was a boy, and to put one of these flowers in your hair if your guess was a girl!
We hung a bunch of paper lanterns and things above that table!
The food was really fun and pretty simple! We did a taco/nacho bar which seemed to me like it can adapt to any range of tastes! I also made this Mexican Popcorn recipe to have sitting out for folks to munch on!
The desserts were fun to do, too. I used this recipe I posted a few weeks back, only in little individual servings in clear plastic cups! And for the spicy brownies, I just used a regular boxed brownie mix and added 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper per box. It added just enough kick to make things really interesting!!
A fiesta is not a fiesta without margaritas… I created a slightly different variation of my go-to large-batch margarita recipe and, although I could only do a little taste test, I was super happy with how they turned out! I’ll post the recipe Wednesday! It’s very simple and makes a lot!!
We are so thrilled to be having a girl and cannot wait to meet her face to face!! She is already such a blessing. I treasure her life every single day! 🙂
Thank y’all so much for reading. I hope you have a fantastic start to the week!
XOXO! And ole!!
Laurel, I absolutely love your style and taste, especially in party planning. I am planning a party myself and have a question for you. Do you mind emailing me (syoung6283@hotmail.com)?
The party was perfect. I’m making the Mexican popcorn tonight! Can’t wait to meet baby girl!!
So glad you came!!! Always great seeing you and Adam! You reminded me that I originally forgot to link to the mexican popcorn recipe that I used, so I went back and added it! 😉 Thanks for the mind jog! 😉
Cutest party every!! I love it. The invites are so adorable. And that taco bar looks so yummy. Now I am hungry!!
