Holiday Fashinspiration

Mistletoe Marketplace, one of the biggest events to hit Jackson, Mississippi year after year, was going strong last weekend. I [intentionally] ran into my favorite little fashionista, Elish, at the Preview Gala and was completely taken with her look! The Preview Gala is a black-tie-optional event, so I knew before even seeing her that I would love whatever kind of twist Elish would put on the “dress code.”

In her words, she describes her look:
So although preparations for Mistletoe Marketplace were non-stop at SummerHouse (see blog post about the beautiful SummerHouse bay here!), the actual preview party totally snuck up on me! It’s the day before and I’m staring in my closet waiting for a Sue Wong cocktail dress to appear. No such luck.
On the day of, I went to Hemline with my fabulous boss, Lisa, to pull something together for her to wear that night. (She wore an amazing black French Connection dress with doubled necklaces.) While there, the top I ended up wearing to Mistletoe fell in my lap, (Thanks Lisa!), and was my jumping off point.
I have always felt most comfortable in shorts, so black tailored shorts and a fur vest and I was good to go!
I still wasn’t sure if I was dressy enough so…when in doubt pile on the jewelry! I love a statement necklace.

I had a great night with my Summerhouse co-workers (photo album here!) and felt super comfortable in what I was wearing. Success in my book!
