Like A Kid In A Candy Store

I know you’ve probably heard the phrase “like a kid in a candy store” used at some point in your life to describe a certain level of uncontrollable excitement, right?! “She was like a kid in a candy store” could be used to describe me in Zara, Paper Source, and ABC Home, just to name a few. Price hits “kid in candy store” status when visiting Bass Pro Shop! (I’d love to know which places bring you to this level of excitement. I want to check them out!)

Well, as it turns out, Wilson absolutely came alive on a recent visit to – wait for it – a candy store! Actually seeing a two year old in a sugar shop gave that phrase a whole new meaning for me!

We got to take a little visit to downtown Jackson last week to check out the recently opened Sugar Ray’s Sweet Shop and had just the best time!

They have so much happiness in there! Tons of candy of all different kinds and colors available by the pound, specialty candies, a wall of “old school” candies (including candy cigarettes which I totally meant to buy a box of because I used to loooove those when I was little!), a few drinks, gift items, greeting cards… Everything you need to concoct the sweetest (get it?) gift to give your sister or your coworker or your dad our your kid or your friend!

They also have these locally made truffles that looked like heaven on earth! They were the cutest things in the world!

Have y’all had the chance to get by this adorable little shop? It’s on Capitol Street just across from the King Edward Hotel! I love the historic location and the whole concept of keeping the bones of a dated space (including that awesome flooring) and updating it and putting a super fun business in! I just wish I lived closer so I could visit more often! 🙂

We haven’t had a candy store like this since the beverage emporium closed, and I’m so happy Jackson has a candy store again! I haven’t been yet but I would to go one day. It doesn’t help either that I follow them on instagram and all their posts make my mouth water.

We love the shop!! Especially because finding candy for kids with allergies can be so hard. We know we have a place to get some yummy (allergy friendly) treats. And it’s so fun for the boys if it’s timed right and a train goes by!!
