Living Room: Before and [Sort of] After

Hey!

Happy Monday! I hope y’all had a great weekend!! We had a really good & tiring (in a good way) one! My friend Elizabeth is getting married in August, but she and her dude live in Denver, so since they were home for the weekend, we packed in tons of wedding festivities/parties/showers in Jackson AND in Memphis! We had a blast celebrating with them and getting to explore Memphis a little with Wilson in tow for his first hotel spend-the-night! He did great. Thank goodness for handicapped showers where you can set up a pack-n-play and close the door. He slept great in there!

As soon as we got home from Memphis, we loaded up and went to Table 100 to celebrate my MIL’s birthday! We had a great time!

Ok so on to the living room… I spent pretty much all last weekend painting the exposed brick in our living room white. I know, I know… Half of y’all are thinking,” What a shame that she painted that pretty brick…” But I PROMISE. We still have TONS of exposed brick. We needed a little variation! And I LOVE how it turned out!

Here’s what we were working with:

Living Room Update: BEFORE // www.thehiveblog.com

Good bones. Love the cabinets and storage. Love the layout.

And now that we have some furniture and a rug, some newly painted brick, and are now without the glass front doors on the bookshelves, I’m feeling like this room is finally really “us!”

Everything is super neutral except the stuff on the bookshelves where all of our books and art can shine! Just like those twinkle lights on the mantle! 😉 Love those things.

Things I need to figure out ASAP in this room:

(1) Pillow situation. Currently we have two anthro pillows and two pillows my mama made for Price’s man room at the old house. I think I might actually like the man pillows in this room, though, because it’s so much brighter in this room than the new man room so they really show up! And they go well with an antique tapestry my grandmother is letting live at our house for the time being! Eventually, though, I’d like more pillows. This girl LOVES pillows.

(2) The beam up on the mantle. After the brick color change, I like what’s currently up there better than I liked it before, but eventually we gotta change that.

(3) Accessorizing the coffee table. LOOOONG way to go on that.

(4) Lamps. We have none in here. And I MUCH prefer lamp lighting to overhead lighting any day. Gotta get that part figured out! I will probably wait til after we get the library table that we have on order to go behind the sofa perpendicular to the bricks!

See Delta laying on the back cushion over in that last picture? It is a very bad idea to let your dogs do that… And no matter how many times I’ve tried to get my dogs not to, they come back with, “We own this house and you’re just living in it, so we do what we want. End of story.”

Ohhhhhkaaaaayyyyy…

Glad I got easy-to-clean fabric!

So far, everything that we’ve ordered for this room has worked perfectly!! All of the furniture is from my favorite store in all the world (SummerHouse) and the rug is from Tinnin.

I’m on the lookout for cute little white planters to put all the succulents in that are floating throughout the bookshelves. And we have a couple more pieces of art we want to get framed and hung in this room! But for now, we are very happy with the progress! Hopefully in the next two months or so, I’ll have even more progress to show you in here!

Because we finally have gotten to the point where we feel like we can have people over, we officially have a housewarming party on the books! The date is June 12! I’m just kind of telling people via word of mouth, so if you want to come and I haven’t seen you lately, please get up with me and I’ll give ya deets! 😉

Hope you have a WONDERFUL Monday! Thanks so much for stopping by! It seriously means the world!!

I know this is an older post, but I just love your room! Do you mind sharing the paint colors? I’m curious especially about the fireplace and cabinets. Thanks!

      Hey Martha!
The color on the fireplace is White Dove by Ben Moore and the wall color is Classic Gray by Ben Moore! I have tried and tried to match the color on the shelves, but I can’t seem to figure out what it is! It was painted that color when we moved in and we loved it so much that we just left it! I’d love to know for touch up purposes! I need to just take a cabinet door off and get Lowes to match it! That won’t help with knowing the name of the color though…

Thanks for liking the room! 🙂
