Snazzy Snail Mail

Who doesn’t love to find a personal piece of mail in their mailbox at the end of a long workday? I may be alone here, but handwritten letters, hand-addressed mail, or anything along the lines of non-mass-produced make me really happy! It’s just fun to know that someone was thinking specifically about me when that piece of mail went out. Do you feel the same way? I know I’m not the only one!!

I love getting personal mail, but I also love to send it! I’ve tried to have a little more fun with handwritten letters and invitations lately, specifically with how the outside looks! So I thought I might share a few of the fun ways I’ve enjoyed snazzing up my snail mail lately!

Metallic pens can be found at just about any craft store! They also come in a variety of colors! I’m currently loving the metallic sharpie fine point paint pens I got a little while back. They make addressing on dark or colored envelopes really fun!

Why not make the names of the recipient huge? Or just use first names and forget the last? Or use cursive for part and print for part? Or just do tall and skinny or short and fat lettering? There is so much fun you can have with writing someone’s name and address!

Next time you’re at the post office sending off a package, be sure to take note of what cool stamps they have available at the time! Last time I was in there, they had Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, and big Ringling Brothers stamps available!

All of these options are also available at USPS.com and you can have them sent directly to your house without having to fight post office traffic! As cool as the liberty bell and American flag are, it’s fun to slap something different on a letter from time to time. Right?! Plus they’re fun to mix together when your item requires more than one stamp!

I recently used watercolors and a skinny brush to write the names of my snail mail recipients just for variation.

And since I’m obsessed with washi tape, I like to use it to seal envelopes from time to time!
