Hoo News

So Price and I have some news…

We are moving!!!

It’s kind of a neat, God-orchestrated story that is taking us from our current home (which we love and were not looking to move out of!) to our new house (which we LUH-HUV and are looking forward to moving into!)

It all started on a crisp February Saturday. Price, Wilson, and I had been eating brunch at The Gathering at Livingston (my new fave, BTW!) and were headed back to our current house in Lake Caroline when Price noticed a neighborhood on our drive home called Livingston. Neither of us had ever noticed it before, as many times as we’d driven right past it!

Anyway, we turned into that hood just to see what it was all about. We saw a FOR SALE sign in the front yard of a house after I’d made a comment about how pretty that house was!  Price was like, “You like it? Well it looks like it’s for sale! We probably can’t afford it but lets just go peek in the windows.”

Well low and behold, as we were snooping around, Price found that the side door was open. Not open open, but it was 100% unlocked! So we just let ourselves right on in… Oops…

I actually said to Price, “I wonder if that’s a sign from God. An open door if you will. Literally.” And Price was like, “Uhhmmmm… Might be? You’re so goofy, but yeah. It might be.”

We both LOVED the house (which is never the case!) so I took that as another sign that maybe we were supposed to really look into this house (which I was still sure was completely out of our price range.) We called the listing agent about it and found out that it was a foreclosure and that it was going up for live auction the following week.

LIVE AUCTION? A HOUSE?? Yes… That is a real thing, my friends…

I’ll skip over a few steps and tell you this: We prayed about the whole situation. We sorted through numbers and came up with a number (waaaayyyy below the listing price) that we would be comfortable bidding. (Still so crazy that we even considered going to a live auction for a house! This is not Art for Heart… Oh my gosh…) I prayed that we would either get the house at or under “our number” or that the bidding would get so high that it was clear that we were just not supposed to have the house.

The auction began and only two other people were bidding on it. The time came for Price to throw out the number we’d talked about (while I was biting my nails and watching Wilson sleep in his car seat in the back to calm my nerves) and nobody outbid us. It was the exact number we’d discussed! Whaaaat?!

So right then and there, we signed like a million sheets of paper and started the home buying process! Over the course of about a week and a half, we went from not even really looking to move into buying a house at a freakin live auction. I still can’t believe it! But we are thrilled!

It’s going to be bittersweet moving out of our first home together, and the house that we brought Wilson home to. Our neighbors are the best, so moving away from them is going to be tough, even if it is just 3 miles away… (But our new neighbors seem pretty awesome too! PTL!) We’ll be leaving a place where a lot of memories were made, but we’re really looking forward to making lots of new memories in our new home! Woo hoo!

So with all of that being said… Anybody wanna buy a house in Lake Caroline?! ha! We plan to officially put it on the market after we get moved into the new home, mainly because 75% of the repairs we need to make are due to our precious, messy pups. If we make the repairs now while the dogs are still living here, the repairs miiiiight get undone pretty quickly… Anyway!

I might start posting some more interior design inspiration stuff as well as progress reports on fixing up the new place if that’s ok with y’all! And during the thick of the move, I’ll have some of my friends guest posting to keep things fresh while I’m not as available to blog as much!

I’m considering doing a hashtag on instagram to chronicle the move and fixing up process, so once I decide what it is, I’ll let y’all know!

Thanks so much for reading and for stopping by today. I hope y’all have an awesome start to the week!!! XO!!!
