Turning a Man Room into a “Nursery”

So we think we have baby boy’s room pretty much ready to go! I put nursery in quotation marks in the title because, as I think I’ve mentioned before on Instagram, we do not have an official nursery for our new baby! We are out of bedrooms in the main living portion of our home, so Price’s office/man room is serving as our nursery for now. Good thing this baby is a boy! He will learn early not to be freaked out by dead animals hanging all around him… 😳

I can’t help but laugh when I walk into this room because we have whiskey, cigars, and diapers all within about four feet of each other. Price’s bar cart now houses baskets of baby gear. The mobile is hanging from a protruding turkey mount in the corner. Go ahead and have a seat and enjoy the view of the crib butted up next to a large gun cabinet. Enjoy a tufted leather sofa with antique needlework pillows of hunting scenes just inches away from a white cotton swivel rocker with a baby blanket and a polar bear pillow that’s been a favorite of all of our kiddos! Stark white baby stuff juxtaposed by dark and moody. God-made stuffed animals next to man-made stuffed animals. It’s just funny when you take it all in!

Overall, I actually love this room. It’s especially cozy at night when just the lamp lights are on. We’ve spent a lot of time in there with Wilson and Lily Ryan talking about baby brother while spinning the kids in Price’s office chair, which I believe is now officially a merry-go-round intended for toddler use. Ha! So it’s a room where some very sweet memories have already been made, and many more will soon be made!

ALSO! We have the french doors for this room finished after a mini reno in there! It’s a bonus to have doors on your baby’s room for sleeping purposes and what not! Wouldn’t you agree? 😉

We’re huge fans of how the reno by Crosstown Builders turned out. We still love our super affordable Ikea crib and that awesome custom gun cabinet made by our friend David at d+p Design Build. The baby animal prints were purchased for Wilson’s nursery years ago and I still love them, so they’re nestled just above the bar cart with our favorite baby books! 😉
