Upstairs Bonus Room Renovation

I was flipping through old photos clearing out space on my memory card when I came across some photos I took several months back of our upstairs guest room / movie room area that I realize I never shared! I had every intention to, then I guess I just forgot! I remember taking these like the week I found out I was pregnant, so I’ll just blame it on having other things on my mind! 😉

Anyway, I don’t think I ever really did share this space after we got it how we wanted it a little over a year ago. When we moved into our house, this area was our bonus room. It sits over our garage, and it was a HUUUGE space. Like 50 feet by 20 feet. It was way too big to be functional as one single room, in our opinion. So we decided to divide it up! We turned the massive room into a guest room, a movie room, and a full bathroom! We love having this setup now, because when guests come to stay, it’s almost like their own little apartment up there. Complete with mini fridge! 😉

The guest room doubles as my office of sorts, which gives me motivation to try and keep it semi picked up. (Keyword: TRY.) And the movie room works great as a theatre room because it has no windows. When we shut the door to the guest room, it is pitch black, and we really feel like we’re at the movies! We even used the slanted ceiling walls as a place to display the posters of some of our favorite movies! We have recently talked about getting rid of the Remember the Titans poster and replacing it with Home Alone, as we have realized that we’ve never even watched Remember the Titans together!  We have, however, watched Home Alone about 100 times.

Price and I utilize this movie space a LOT. Especially during the holidays when we go on our annual movie-thon and watch all of our favorite Christmas movies! And when the kids get a little older, I foresee tons of movie nights and sleepovers taking place in this space!

I tried to find as many of the movie posters that we have as I could, but wasn’t able to locate 100% of them. Hopefully this is helpful, though, if you’re looking to do something similar! I also linked the frames we used at the end of this carousel!

I didn’t get photos of the bathroom because it’s still pretty far from being finished as far as art/accessories, so I’ll work on that for a separate post. For now, here’s what we got! It’s a little pieced together, but hey. We like it! It’s cozy and it works, even if it wouldn’t win any great design awards! 🙂

Thank y’all SO much for stopping in today! I hope you had a GREAT weekend and are gearing up for some fun July 4th plans! We seem to have a ton going on these days, but it’s all good stuff, so I’m not complaining. Just gotta keep getting our manna every morning so we don’t burn out, right?! God is so good!

Love y’all and hope you have the BEST DAY EVER! XO!

Beautiful, what is the gray color you used in the bonus room? Love it!

This is great! I have a similar room and was wondering what hardware you used to hang the posters.
