Happy Taco Tuesday!
Do any of you hunters/hunters’ spouses ever think, “ok, what other recipes can I use deer meat in? I need to branch out.” I know that is a conversation I have with myself often every hunting season when we get in fresh supplies of venison. It’s a super easy substitute for ground beef, so I use it in things like spaghetti, meatloaf, and chili all the time!
But for some crazy reason, I had never thought to use it in tacos til just last week! So I went for it, and it was a great decision!
I didn’t do anything super special with the meat prep. I browned a pound of meat, then used a pack of taco seasoning on the meat. But what made these tacos more fun than normal was, instead of reaching for the regular shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, and flour tortillas, I used corn tortillas, fresh avocado, fresh lime juice, fresh cilantro, and a sprinkle of kosher salt!
Fun fact: A pound of meat goes a long way with tacos, so I was able to eat our leftovers the next day for lunch as well. It was just as tasty on day two!
I think the lime juice and the kosher salt were the cherries on top. Or was it all the freshness of the avocado and cilantro?? Or no, maybe it was the corn tortilla!! Those make tacos so much better in my opinion!
Really, I think stepping out of my norm was what made this meal (or should I say these meals) so good! Adding one of these skinny margaritas didn’t hurt things, either! 🙂
So now my regular rotation of venison recipes will consist of spaghetti, meatloaf, chili, and tacos. What else do y’all have that we can try? Price informed me over the weekend that we are about to get a whole new load, so… HELP!
Thank y’all oh so much for stopping by today! Y’all are the best!!!
(Oh, and don’t forget that tomorrow is the last day to enter this giveaway! Good luck!)
