I wrapped up this scripture wall mural (of sorts) I wrapped up this scripture wall mural (of sorts) in our bathroom about a year ago and I still love it!! It makes me so happy! If you’ve been considering a similar project, JUST DO IT!! Here is all the info I can think of that might help you get started, plus a few FAQs answered! 💛 this is painted- it is not wallpaper! 💛 it’s the book of James chapter one plus a few verses from chapter two (then I ran out of room mid sentence 🤣) 💛 this is in our “potty room” which is separate from the rest of the bathroom. 💛 paint colors are all @behrpaint from @homedepot. They are (as used from top to bottom): - Zero Gravity (gray) - Gentle Sea (blue) - Cassia Buds (purple) - Taffy Twist (pink) - Trick or Treat (orange) 💛 I bought a quart of each color. This was entirely too much paint for this size space. I totally should’ve gotten the sample sizes. BUT I was later commissioned to paint the same scripture using the same colors in a friend’s child’s bedroom, so I got to use my leftover! 💛 I used three different brush sizes (1”, 1/2”, and 1/4”) and mixed word sizes after realizing I started off way too big. Incorporating smaller text was so I could get more words in, and it definitely helped, but still didn’t get the whole book 🤣 (ICYMI, my *original* plan was do the entire book of James. I made it to James 2:9. 😆) 💛 I did not measure or draw lines or do any pencil marks. This was total freehand which honestly was not too hard to keep straight! You CAN do this! 💛 to keep the ombré of the colors more gradual, I did 4 or 5 lines of gray. Then mixed half gray and half blue for two lines. Then went to full blue for 4 or 5 lines, then did half blue half purple for two, then full purple for 4 or 5… and so on! Til we reached orange at the bottom! I used small plastic “throw away” cups to do my color mixing. 💛 it took 7 to 8 hours total. This room is pretty small. So it’s a bit of a commitment! 💛 please feel free to ask any questions you may have! Happy to answer!!

Today was one of those days I’ve been dreading f Today was one of those days I’ve been dreading for a few years now. Dempsey’s first water day where he’d need his ears (that’s what we call his cochlear implants if you’re new here!) covered in the waterproof casing and a good battery situation that would last for hours, where I might not be on hand at every moment to help fix anything that goes wrong. I’ve had anxiety and mini internal panic attacks thinking about how much I’d dislike this day when it finally came. Would he want to completely take his ears off? How difficult would that make it for his teachers?! What if a battery dies while in the water casing while I’m not around? What if it accidentally gets completely wet somehow? What if another kid makes fun of him? Will his ears fall off too easily when he’s doing water slides? So many questions would run through my head every time I’d think about a water day. Today was Splash Day for the kindergarteners at Dempsey’s school and, well, I’m thrilled to report that TODAY WAS GREAT!! First of all, we went into it prayerfully, asking God’s goodness to just shine! And oh my goodness IT DID! ☀️ Demps had a great time (even though, yes, he did remove an ear a few times), his battery situation lasted all day, he DID struggle with an ear falling off on water slides (but you know what? It bothered him zero. So it bothered me zero!) and nobody said a negative thing about that less than sleek water covering! A few other parents did ask about the covering, which I LOVE because it opens the door for wonderful conversation! But I picked up on NO negative comments! 😌 I feel like today was a really special day for me as a mama because I got to enjoy watching my boy have fun, even when he ran into a few obstacles. He is so resilient and so happy and it just makes me so thankful! I think I’m in a place now where, although I probably won’t go seeking out water days for him just yet 😆, I believe I can confidently send him into his next water day without worries! This is a random “win” for me but I just felt led to share, so here we are! 🤩😆😘 I hope your ears behave on your next water day! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for reading this far! Bless you! XO!

They sent me their new ice light bulb covers and new white cords, and I picked several colors of bulbs (which I’ve been obsessed with since Christmas before last when I first started using their products - they are LED but look like beautiful vintage lights!!!) I love having a little extra twinkly fun in the house year round- not just at Christmas!- and @trutonebulbs makes that fun and easy!
