As great as it feels good to be home and sleep in my own bed and play with my puppies and do things my own way, I just love a good trip. I really don’t care where the trip is to as long as I get to pack up, jet set (or car set if that’s even a term?) and spend a couple of days outside of my norm.
I always tell my husband during hunting season, when he’s waking up at 4 a.m. morning after morning to drive to deer camp, that I wish I was half as passionate about something as he is about hunting. To me, one way to define passion is by what you’ll happily lose valuable sleep for! (I guess you could say I’m passionate about sleep… Not sure what that says about me…)
Anyway, travel is one thing that I don’t mind waking up at 4 a.m. for. It’s thrilling, actually!
Our latest thrill was when we got to venture up to NYC with my family! My grandmother graciously took us on the trip and we had a freakin blast!
Here are some of the highlights that I was able to capture!
You might’ve already seen this highlight… It was INCREDIBLE!
Wilson staying in his first hotel room enjoying his babiators from Row^10!
There was a GREAT restaurant near our hotel called The Smith. They had the MOST outstanding tomato soup Price and I have ever tasted… I went back for seconds before the trip was over!
The new dads strolling their bebes to brunch!
A visit to Magnolia Bakery to mack on some cupcakes.
Price and I went to the Saturday Night Live 40 year exhibition and it was GREAT! Probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. I gained a lot of respect for the cast of SNL. And we got to sit on the Wayne’s World sofa!
Also got to see this SNL gem. Makes me laugh every single time!
The little ones hanging out at the hotel <3
Bar Boulud was a great French restaurant we ate at the last night we were in town! Followed by a midnight run to Shake Shack for a concrete… Oh yeah.
We also went to the 9/11 memorial and museum. It was pretty amazing. This is the freedom tower!
Some lovely peonies spotted at a street market!
Rooftop drinks with our NYC cousin Mark!
The new Tavern on the Green is LEGIT. The place closed down a few years ago, then got bought and reopened I think two years ago? Anyway, the renovation and the new menu are fantastic! The place was beautiful. It was quite different from when we ate there right after we got engaged in Central Park in 2008, but in the best way!!
Speaking of getting engaged… We took Wilson to the fountain where it all went down! He really enjoyed it, as you can tell…
Always fun to see pieces from your favorite TV shows in person!
One of my favorite afternoons was spent just sitting in the park sipping lemonade and watching people. It was a beautiful day!
Overall it was a fantastic trip! We had a ball and can’t wait to return hopefully soon!! 🙂
Miss you already, New York!
Thanks for reading today! Have a great rest of your day!
So glad y’all liked the SNL exhibit! The writers and actors talking about all the lost sleep gave me anxiety!
I know! It gave me 100x more respect for them! I don’t know how they do it!
This looks like an amazing trip! I now definitely have the itch to travel 🙂

The Babiators look fabulous on Wilson! We MUST go back soon!
I’ll go back any time! As long as we can take Helen from here on out! 😉
New York City misses you!!
SO GLAD we got to visit with your fam!!!
