My Favorite Room :: My Living Room

I am THRILLED to have my friend Kelly from Swear On Chanel to guest post for me today!! She’s a Mississippi girl (we know each other from Mississippi State!) who now lives in Nashville by way of L.A.! She’s super cute and has a wonderful blog that I love following!! Today she’s getting in on the My Favorite Room series action! Here’s what she has to say about the lovely space that is her living room

What is your favorite room in your house?

This past November, the boy and I moved from Los Angeles to Nashville. We opted for a two bedroom condo in charming Hillsboro Village — while we’re on the hunt for a house. My favorite room in the condo is where the boy and I spend the most time — our living room.

What about this room makes you love it so much?

Our living room is such a cozy spot. Throughout this past winter {the coldest in Nashville since the ’70s — so I’ve been told}, we’ve spent a good bit of time lounging and binge watching some of our favorite shows (House of Cards, Game of Thrones, etc). Our living room is made up of a mix of pieces that we’ve found over the years. Some pieces are from my favorite furniture store {hello, SummerHouse} and antique shops {so many ahMazing ones in Franklin}.

Others have been inherited from family — the trunk dates back to when our family came to America; the quilt is from my grandmother’s house; and the bird prints were hand-me-downs from my mom.

And, some pieces we’ve snagged on trips — we got the white urns from a store in Seaside, FL on one of our annual July 4th trips.

If you had to pick your favorite element in the room, what would it be?

No doubt, it’s the painting from our wedding. We had an artist live-paint our reception, and it’s a painting that is very special to us both. It’s a piece of our wedding reception that we’ll have forever.

What’s your favorite paint color?

Duck Egg Blue — Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

At what time of day do you most enjoy being in this room?

Saturday morning with a mug of coffee in my favorite Bedhead pajamas. {I have only recently started drinking coffee, btw. Peppermint Mocha Coffee-Mate Creamer changed my world.}

If you had to describe this room in 3 words, what would they be?

Calm. Cozy. Memories.

Anything else you want us to know about your favorite room?!

My mom gave me a great piece of advice when we bought our first house five years ago and I was stressing because we had approximately two pieces of furniture to go in the house with so much left to buy. She told me that the best rooms are made up of pieces from different places acquired over time. I took her advice when putting together our living room, and looking back, I’m so glad I did. Xx.
