Quiet Mornings

Although getting out of bed is one of the biggest challenges I face on a daily basis, once I’m actually able to put my feet on the floor and stumble to the coffee maker, I really do love mornings.

Quiet time in the mornings

I’m always the first one up around here and I absolutely love what I call my “quiet hour” before anyone else gets up!

Before I do anything, I make myself a cup of coffee! (Coffee actually has tons of health benefits that you can read about here!) Once that important task is complete, I wedge into my favorite sofa corner with a pillow, some books, and of course my coffee! I love having quiet time alone with just myself and God. I don’t let myself check emails or social media before I have this quiet time because I know that once I start checking, I’ll be sucked into the black hole and I’ll start thinking about everything I need to get done! This time has been really precious for me!!! I believe the Lord places different convictions on everyone’s hearts, so things you are convicted of, I may not be convicted of. And vice versa! But one thing I have been convicted of is giving the first fruits of my day to spending time with Him. I almost look at it as a tithe of my time in a sense!

Lately during this time, I’ve spent time writing down little prayers in my journal, and working on deepening my relationship with both The Lord and Price through a his and hers marriage Bible study by Lysa TerKeurst! This book is for a husband to read to learn about his wife. This book is the one for wives to read to learn about their husbands!

I’ve become keenly aware lately of how important it is to invest in your marriage spiritually! Behind God, your relationship with your spouse is THE most important! It feeds almost every other relationship in your life. Relationship with kids, with friends, with your job… When your marriage is fed by God, and when couples are hungry for The Word, I really believe that those couples are more ready and more equipped to fight battles together, whatever they may be. Those battles could come in a million different forms! I’ve also been reading this book, Shepherding a Child’s Heart, to learn how to be a more godly parent! This one has been harder for me to get into because this author and I obviously have very different senses of humor, but the meat of the info is good stuff! I’m definitely learning great things!

Quiet time in the mornings

Once my quiet time comes to a close, I go make myself breakfast! Lately it’s either been a healthy cereal or oatmeal with blueberries or raspberries! I go through breakfast phases (unlike my friend Rachel who has eaten the exact SAME thing – Honey Nut Cheerios – for 20 years for breakfast! That’s true commitment!)

Right now, I’m into oatmeal with coconut oil, honey or stevia, cinnamon, and fresh berries. It’s way delicious! I also try to remember to take my vitamins at this time of day! I’ve been taking the Honest Women’s Once Daily multivitamins lately as well as turmeric supplements. Turmeric is supposed to help with inflammation! I was having pain all the time in my back and neck because of picking up the kids, but since I’ve started the turmeric, the pain is significantly less! Seriously! (Here’s a cool list of the proven benefits of turmeric if you’re interested! Shout out to my friend Avery who told me about the benefits of turmeric!)

Quiet time in the mornings

After breakfast, I go dry shampoo and throw on the bare necessities as far as makeup! (Unless I’m taking pictures or something that day. Then I go a little more in depth!) 😉 Then outfit picking out and ta-da! I’m ready.

I’ll take this moment to say that I have LOVED my pantone eye shadow palette for Sephora. I’m sad for you guys that this isn’t made anymore. But I’m so glad I have it because, even though I use it almost every single day, it is still rocking and rolling. TWO years later! That’s the beauty of a palette. You can switch things up every day if you want, and they last forever! Here’s a fun selection of other palettes!

At this point in the morning, it’s usually time to start making breakfast for the rest of the fam, get lunches underway (I seriously love packing lunches…), and get everyone out the door and where they need to be! Including myself! 😉

What is your morning routine? I’d love to hear! Do you have anything that must be included in your morning for your day to happen? Do tell!

And thanks so much for stopping by today! Means everything to me! 🙂
