Remembering 9/11

Remembering 9/11

“They will be exposed, and they will discover what others in the past have learned: Those who make war against the United States have chosen their own destruction. We will find those who did this, we will smoke them out of their holes, we will get them running, and we will bring them to justice.” -George W. Bush

I saw that quote on Facebook this morning and remember hearing it spoken live on TV back in 2001! Then I started thinking back to where I was when I first found out about the attack on the World Trade Center. I was walking into Mr. West’s art class: my first period each day of my junior year in high school. I remember him saying this was a really big deal. Like Pearl Harbor scale big deal. The rest of the day, we watched the news in all of our classes. For the next month, I was glued to the TV.

It was humbling to get to visit Ground Zero earlier this year when Price and I took our spontaneous getaway up there back in May.

We saw The Freedom Tower…

… The memorials where the two towers actually stood…

… And my favorite, The Survivor Tree. This tree has an amazing little story.

Today is a reminder of how thankful I am to be an American. I love this country so much and am so blessed to get to live here! And I will always remember 9/11. 🙂
