Roughin’ It

Every year, we take a Good Friday camping trip in Holmes County, Mississippi! Price’s family’s hunting land is up there, and along the back of their property runs a little creek called Funnegushe (which we pronounce “funny gusher.”)

For four years in a row now, my brother Jordan and his wife Katie, Price’s brother Jesse and his wife Mary Margaret, and Price and I have camped on the bed of Funnegushe Creek!

We always have an absolute blast! Partly because it just couldn’t be prettier or more peaceful out there!

This year was extra fun because our friends Lan and Joey were able to join us! The fire was extra hot, the burgers were extra good, and of course, the late night conversation around the bonfire was just the best! As Jordan put it, “a lot of the world’s problems got solved around that there fire.” Now to put those problem solving plans into action… 😉

On Saturday morning, some of the guys woke up really early (like 4:45!) to go turkey hunting while the rest of us slept until about 9.

We revived the fire from the night before boy scout style (yes, it still had some hot embers underneath all those coals!) so we could cook our breakfast, which consisted of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and some english muffins. Good stuff!

After a leisurely morning, we packed up camp and headed our separate ways for Easter weekend festivities. I think I speak for us all when I say that we’re excited to continue this tradition for years and years to come!
