Sharing both of our tried and true Griswold-y cock Sharing both of our tried and true Griswold-y cocktails on thehiveblog.com today! MELE KALIKI VODKA is inspired by the hit song Mele Kaliki Maka and is a fun, tropical-yet-holidayish vodka cocktail! Itā€™s really easyā€“ hereā€™s what you need! MELE KALIKI VODKA 32 oz. Cranberry juice 1 can Frozen Lemonade 1 can Frozen Pineapple Juice 64 oz. Cran-Pineapple Juice 2 liter bottle of lemon-lime soda 4 cans Light Beer 4 cups Vodka To keep this cocktail cold without watering it down, I went ahead and mixed the sprite, the cranberry juice, and the cran-pineapple juice together the morning of the party and froze some of it in smaller cups to use as the chilling agent instead of ice. Itā€™d probably still taste good if you donā€™t have time to do that and have to let it water down a bit with ice, but just an idea! šŸ™‚ A few minutes before party time, I mixed everything else in the drink dispenser, added the ā€œice,ā€ and we were ready for @christmaswithcousineddie! I wanted to find a family pic for this post becaus I wanted to find a family pic for this post because itā€™s about a passage I LOVE, and I feel like thereā€™s lots of LOVE in this pic! šŸ˜ Iā€™m going through @thebiblerecap alongside some dear friends, and I canā€™t seem to get caught up. Always a few days behind! But as @taraleighcobble, the Bible Recap host, says, ā€œyou may be behind, but I believe youā€™re right on time!ā€ In the reading and recap I did today, there was this beautiful passage from 2 Corinthians 12ā€“ ā€œBut he said to me, ā€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.ā€ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.ā€ I LOVE this passage, and really fell in love with it even harder when we found out about Dempseyā€™s ears. We ALL have weakness, hardship, or calamity in one way or another. Since Demps has an ā€œoutwardā€ weakness - lack of natural hearing- where everyone can see it in the form of his cochlear implants, yet all can see how JOYFUL that child is, Iā€™m humbled and reminded that JOY and GOODNESS and really every other word describing the fruit of the spirit, can be present and thrive within the hard! For THE SAKE OF CHRIST, we can be content, and I believe find great joy, in our weakness. Where we are weak, HE is strong! Where we fall short, despite the circumstances, or when we feel less than for whatever reason, that is where Godā€™s perfection picks up. We NEED Him!! What a joy to know that our God uses our weakness and shortcoming to further His name and His message! We were all fearfully and wonderfully made for a PURPOSE! I get asked fairly regularly what itā€™s like to have a deaf kid. And truly, because of the goodness of God, I can humbly and honestly and wholeheartedly say what a JOY it a has been! I wouldnā€™t change it!! This one ā€œweaknessā€ has grown our family in immeasurable ways and makes me realize that we can all, as scripture says, BOAST in our weakness because where we are weak, OUR GOD MAKES US STRONG!! #cochlearkids #deafkids #LSL #cochlearimplant
If you and I are in similar boats this time of yea If you and I are in similar boats this time of year, it is a constant battle keeping the house- namely the kitchen- clean! Weā€™ve been entertaining and cooking and fixing snacks and doing a little holiday baking with the kiddos... Which means all the messes! Between dried cake batter, drink rings, jello residue, dog prints, coffee splatters, fingerprints, and a ton of other things, itā€™s this time of year (and really every time of year if Iā€™m honest!), I particularly appreciate @puracyā€™s surface cleaner. Especially on days when people are coming over to eat with us! Gotta get this place in better shape šŸ˜† This 99.3% plant and mineral based cleaner works on wood, glass, metal, and plastic. I even use it on my marble backsplash! Which is my entire kitchen! It smells great, it cleans great, and itā€™s from a brand Iā€™ve trusted for years now. Went to the Miracle pop-up bar at @apothecaryjxn o Went to the Miracle pop-up bar at @apothecaryjxn over the weekend to gather #ad content, but went back tonight because it was incredible and I couldnā€™t wait to get back in there! @miraclepopup has completely taken over The Apothecary through the end of the year with their cocktail menu, cheeky glassware, and funky retro vibe. Itā€™s truly an experience! If you get a chance, gather your people and head to @apothecaryjxn (in the back of @brentsdrugs in Fondren) for an awesome + memorable night out! After two visits (and hopefully a couple more before ā€˜22 runs out) I must say Iā€™m rather partial to the Elfing Around cocktail! šŸ¤© A portion of proceeds from certain purchases at this pop-up go to support Seva, a global nonprofit eye care organization that works with local communities around the world to develop self-sustaining programs that preserve and restore sight! Wilson is EIGHT today and I simply cannot believe Wilson is EIGHT today and I simply cannot believe it! This boy is growing up wayyyy too quickly, but Iā€™m so thankful for who he is becoming! Heā€™s silly, sweet, sporty, sensitive, creative, and smart. I pray that year eight is the best yet and that Wilson always finds confidence and rest in knowing how LOVED he is, not only by his family and friends, but by Jesus!! Wilson, youā€™re one in a bazillion and we are so thankful for you!!!! šŸ¤©šŸ’›šŸ„³
Fun fact: One of my first big fights with Price af Fun fact: One of my first big fights with Price after we got married was white lights vs. colored lights on our first Christmas tree. I wanted white, he wanted colors. He ended up winning - we went with mixing the big vintagey lights with the small NON LED lights - and now I canā€™t imagine not having colored lights on our tree!! If it was up to Price, we would have tons of LED lights on our tree, but I canā€™t quiiite get thereā€¦ the colors are too harsh for my personal preference šŸ˜‚ (We have actually compromised on this and have a small LED tree in our bedroom šŸ˜†) But have any of yā€™all had heated discussions over Christmas lights with your spouse?! Or is it just us? šŸ¤Ŗ and does anyone else feel me on the LED lights?! Itā€™s the harshness of the blue that justā€¦ āŒāŒāŒšŸ˜‚
