These kiddos and their love for being outside make These kiddos and their love for being outside make me so happy! They’re very talented at turning lemons into lemonade 🤩 I did a little “research” (or googling 😆) on why it seems they love being outside, even/especially in the rain, and found some good stuff! 🌧️ Here’s how playing in the rain impacts your brain and body: • Dopamine & Movement: The physical act of playing or walking in the rain acts as a natural reward, encouraging the brain to release dopamine. • Serotonin & Negative Ions: Rain, particularly through the Lenard effect (water splashing on surfaces), releases negative air ions. These ions are known to increase levels of serotonin, which can boost energy and improve mood. • Endorphin Release: The sensation of cold rain and the physical exertion of moving outside can trigger the release of endorphins. • Reduced Stress (Cortisol): Spending time in nature, even when raining, helps reduce cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone. • Please always beware when you hear thunder and see lightning! ⚡️ As @pricedonahoo has been known to say more than once, “get outside, nerds!”

These girls have been my besties since college (@rachel2cooley & @jwholmes412) and since preschool (Court, who isn’t on IG) and we just always have the best time together. Thankful for some time to get away and recharge in the Ocean Springs cuteness! Found some fun stops on the way down and on the way home, too! Love these friends of mine and I love Mississippi! 💛

Happy Deaf Awareness Week! For those who may not Happy Deaf Awareness Week! For those who may not know, Dempsey - our youngest - was born profoundly deaf. He couldn’t hear a darn thing from the get go. He got cochlear implants when he was nine months old and has been hearing since his activation day at ten months. This unexpected road hasn’t necessarily been easy, but it’s honestly been so joyous. We love the unique community we have found through Dempsey’s hearing loss and are grateful that God saw fit to gift us with our little Dempsey bean! Dempsey’s favorite trick that his hearing peers can’t do is shut sound off when it gets too loud! He just takes his coils (the little gray circle magnets) off and his hearing is OFF 😆 It’s fun watching him grow more and more comfortable with his little differences. I love the scripture in 2 Corinthians 12 that says, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Deaf kids rock!

We have had such a sweet year with the coolest class & teachers. They’ve embraced my boy’s differences and loved on him so well!
