This is one of my favorite superficial perks of co This is one of my favorite superficial perks of cochlear implants: the magnets can help tame some unruly hair when needed! 🤣 I’ve thought so much about our visit to Innsbruck, Austria back in November where I got to immerse myself in all things @medel_global (Dempsey’s CI manufacturer) for three days, and I came out of that summit almost overwhelmed with ALL that I learned!!!! I did want to share a few other perks/cool things that I am so thankful for regarding cochlear implants! 1) My top takeaway was, THERE IS NO CEILING to sound quality improvement for CI users! It will always continue getting better with practice and therapy! When Demps was first diagnosed, we were afraid that the sound he hears (particularly with music) would be so different that he wouldn’t be able to enjoy it. But that is NOT TRUE! Technology has come so far and research has come so far that today, there is nothing keeping the sound our baby hears from being anything other than beautiful if we keep working at it!! 2) Med-el has a very strenuous process of manufacturing. These hearing devices are HAND MADE with SO MUCH PRECISION!! It’s absolutely mind blowing the details that go into each device. I honestly can’t wrap my head around it! 3) CI experiences can vary, based on age of implantation and amount of therapy! Med-el can provide some wonderful therapy resources for people of all ages. Hearing loss can happen for many different reasons, so if you lose hearing later in life, please know that, should you choose sound, your road might be a little tougher but there IS light!! Keep working hard and immersing yourself in sound 💛 4) This road isn’t always easy but with God, hard work, and a great community, so much is possible! We are so grateful!!!! Big thanks again to the @medel_global team for having us!! I’m still so humbled and thankful! 🫶
Two things we did this past holiday season that I Two things we did this past holiday season that I loved: (1) gifting several IOUs and purchasing gifts after Christmas rather than totally busting it to get it all together before. This took so much pressure off, and they were actually very well recieved! Plus late gifts make the celebration last longer, right?! 🤩 (2) getting each of our kids their own @greenlightcard then letting them earn money to buy gifts for each other. This was precious to witness!! Highly highly recommend Greenlight cards! I hope these ideas are helpful! Thanks for being here! 😘😘
