And what a JOY to have the amazingly talented @dawsonsplants photograph it!! This guy’s photos are absolutely incredible 🤩🤩🤩 I love the colors and the bounty of fall 🧡🍁💛 and I sure do love me some @martinsonsgardenworks! 🥰 Also, thank you @pricedonahoo for the sweatshirt 🤣 and thank you, school trinket store, for the tiny hands that have provided my kids ENDLESS fun 🤣🤣

Join us for an ear piercing at @heyrowan in @highl Join us for an ear piercing at @heyrowan in @highlandvillagejxn! Lily gal and I had a girly little date to get her ears pierced at the brand new, super cool piercing shop located right off the courtyard at Highland Village. Not only do we love the name of this shop (my niece’s name is Rowan!) but we were SUPER impressed with the customer service and the cleanliness! When you get your ears pierced at Rowan, it’s being done by a registered nurse who takes EVERY precaution possible! Example: after they use a pen to dot where on your earlobes the piercings will be, you get to keep the pen so your ear germs don’t get on anyone else else’s ears, and vice versa! (We love our new pen! 😆) On our visit, we actually had a scenario where they looked at the thickness of Lily Ryan‘s earlobe and were able to advise her as to which styles of earrings would work best for her based on thickness. That is not something I have ever experienced at an ear piercing! 😆 (Nutshell back story: this is our third attempt at ear piercing! We have dealt with some STUFF in the past and, I am happy to report after one week in, we have had no stuff to deal with this time!) So thankful! Thank you, Rowan, for making my girl feel at ease, giving her what I am confident is her best piercing ever, and for just being all around incredible! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ highly recommend!! #brandpartner #gifted
I was in Fondren last week and stumbled upon the c I was in Fondren last week and stumbled upon the coolest bakery + coffee shop in Duling Hall! It is called Just Vanilla! I went in and immediately felt like I was somewhere I wasn’t supposed to be. (But, like… in an awesome way… I felt adventurous!) I heard bustle coming from the top of the stairs to my left, so up I went, and there I was greeted by the most heavenly smell of baked goods and fresh coffee. I asked the nice guy who rung me up how long they’d been there and he said TWO YEARS! How have I missed this place for over 700 days?!? Why did none of you tell me about this place?! Hah just kidding- not your fault! BUT I do feel led to tell you about it in case you’ve missed it like I have! Thanks for the great start to one of my days last week, @just.vanilla.bakes. Your place & your stuff are awesome and I can’t wait to go back 🫶

Our annnnnual* Reese’s taste test in honor of Un Our annnnnual* Reese’s taste test in honor of Uncle Dooley was crazy but so fun! So wild, in fact, that several neighbors and friends got in on it and I got no pictures after the kids entered the scene 🤣 The story about the Reese’s is pretty silly and a bit embarrassing, but a great memory for me. 🤪 It’s on thehiveblog.com if you just search Reese’s. Anyway!! The verdicts from the kids: Lily Ryan and Dempsey both chose Reese’s pieces as their favorite this year, and Wilson chose the Caramel Big Cup! Price and I were pleasantly surprised by the PB&J, and I think we all knew the Oreo Reese’s was going to be delish! How could it not?! I left off nutrageous this year because it’s consistently the least fave amongst the kiddos 😆 *my mind was all over the place whilst writing the words and I accidentally wrote ANNN when writing annual. So I figured I’d just add a few extra N’s to make it say “annnnnual” like an announcer or something 🤣 Enjoy a Reese’s soon in Dooley’s honor, won’t ya? 🥰 #whyyahere #rememberingdooley
Tomorrow, October 18th, is the 23rd Dooley Day, wh Tomorrow, October 18th, is the 23rd Dooley Day, which marks 23 years since my younger brother Ryan (but everyone called him Dooley) left this earth. He was in a car accident 23 years ago today and he didn’t make it. We miss him so much! I reread my post about him from last year (I’ll share part of it in the slides) and it brought up so much emotion. We were in the hospital around this time last year going through a tough week of Wilson breaking his arm and needing surgery. Earlier today, I was feeling guilty that I haven’t thought about Dools as much this year as I normally do. I don’t really know why. But then I reread last year’s post and thought about the scripture in Ecclesiastes 3 about seasons. There are seasons of busy and seasons of rest. Seasons of more happiness and seasons of more sadness. Seasons of many thoughts and seasons of fewer thoughts. So I’m thankful that we aren’t in the hospital this year like we were last. But by contrast, I am sad that I’ve thought of him less. I never want to let him become a distant memory. The silver lining to Dooley Day every year is the without-a-doubt knowledge that we will see Dooley in heaven. He trusted his life to Jesus and because of his faith in our precious savior, he has eternal life with Jesus. Do you? 🥰 Another silver lining is something we have done for several years now. I love it here and feel very grateful for the chance to put down some deep roots with my wild yet awesome family in the same area where I grew up! I love Jesus and coffee and Christmas candles and all things local. I’m holding on tight to the sweetness of these tiring, joyous days, trying to create an appreciation for the miracles all around us, every day. (Every day really is a big miracle filled with lots of small ones!! Take notice!! The gorgeous glittery light dancing on that pond? Truly fabulous. The fact that your kids unknowingly ate kale? MIRACLE) I am so grateful for the opportunity to mother my kids and wife my husband (can we use wife as a verb the same way we use mother as one? 🤔) although most days I feel like I’m flying by the seat of my pants 😂 The message I’m currently teaching my kiddos is, you never know what’s going on with someone, so ALWAYS BE KIND. ALWAYS. Praying it’ll stick 🤪 I love getting to create content and share little wins and discoveries and bits of beauty with you, and I’m so grateful I get to call it my job!
