August is #nationalcatfishmonth, so I have the joy August is #nationalcatfishmonth, so I have the joy of teaming up with @us_catfish to bring you a fun catfish recipe made with pantry staples + U.S. farm raised catfish! This sweet and spicy faux-fried catfish is mostly healthy, a crowd pleaser, and super easy!!! . Hop on over to thehiveblog.com for more about the recipe + lots more pictures! In the meantime, feel free to hit that save button to keep this recipe on hand! 😘 SWEET & SPICY FAUX-FRIED CATFISH (4 servings) INGREDIENTS 3 Tbl. packed brown sugar 1/8 Tsp. cayenne pepper 1/8 Tsp. garlic powder 1/2 Tsp. kosher salt 2 Cups Corn Flakes 1 egg 1/3 Cup milk 2 Tbl. extra virgin olive oil 4 U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish filets, thawed METHOD - Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. - Put your Corn Flakes in a ziplock bag and use a rolling pin to crush them into crumbs. - Combine the rest of the dry ingredients with the Corn Flakes in a medium, shallow bowl and mix thoroughly. - Whisk the egg and milk together in a separate medium, shallow bowl. - Take each filet, one at a time, and dip both sides in the milk and egg mixture. Then dip the filet into the crumb mixture, making sure to coat the whole thing. - Place each of the four filets in a large baking dish, side by side. I think the faux-fried coating part bakes better when the filets are not touching each other! - Drizzle the olive oil lightly over the top of the four filets. - Bake in the oven for 25 minutes, or until the fish is white and flaky in the middle. - Serve immediately with your favorite sides. ENJOY!

Colorful little shelves to brighten your Monday! ☀️ . I had a few minutes to rearrange these shelves last week and it’s amazing how much more I like them with just a little moving around / adding / subtracting! . I hope your day is as warm and bright and colorful as that bottom left corner! 💗🧡💛
Peace out, weird week! ✌🏼 . I say weird becau Peace out, weird week! ✌🏼 . I say weird because it was really long, but SO GOOD. Wilson started “camp kindergarten” with precious friends to get these babies learning and being social until real school starts. Demps started back at his sweet little school yesterday and had a great two days! And Lily Ry is hanging home with me acting as my assistant until her preschool starts! . I went to a very informative event about human trafficking last night and learned so much about the difficulties faced by our law enforcement in trying to lessen the HUGE problem that is sex trafficking. Man, it’s a mess. But one of the law enforcement officers who spent his evening educating those of us who want to learn more (when he could’ve just as easily spent his time doing his own thing) said something so profound. He said the problem is huge and so wide-cast that we can’t possibly fix it as it is right now. What we CAN do is LOVE OUR CHILDREN WELL and do our part to stop the feelings of loneliness and sadness in kids. Love your kids well. Love your kids’ friends well. Give them a sense of value and worth. When their emotional cups are filled at home and/or by the well-meaning adults in their lives, the likelihood of them being easily tempted by a bad situation promising “love” and “value” decreases. . Don’t quote me exactly on this, but something i learned last night was, the time it takes just to get one victim rescued or one trafficker prosecuted is something like 600 man hours. That is a LOT of time to help ONE person. And our law enforcement sees the value in putting in 600 hours for one person. But if you do the math, you can see that they can’t possibly tackle the entire system. It would take lifetimes. . I learned a bunch of other shocking stuff that I’ll have to save for another day. But I did learn that true love provides hope and security. And that is the message of the gospel right there. If you do see an opportunity to tackle the awful system of trafficking, please do what you can to help. And when you get the opportunity to invest in a child, DO IT. It could save a life! . Be the light and love well, my friend! You were created to do just that! ✨😘
It’s been several years since we added a bathroo It’s been several years since we added a bathroom in to our bonus room area above our garage and, until today, that cute bathroom has been begging for a pretty wood chest. BEGGING, I tell you! It would cry out every time I stepped in there... “a chest, please! Pleeeeease!” . Well today was that bathroom’s red letter day. I went to @theoutletjxn and looked and measured, and measured. And measured again. And I found this perfect lil beauty in just the right size, in just the right wood tone, with just the right personality. . She came home with me, allowed me to get her up the stairs by myself (I still don’t really know how that happened. All I know is I was sweating at the end of it) and nestled into her new home. . My grandmother’s lamp, one of the first pieces of real art I bought as a college graduate with a job, and a few cute accessories from The Outlet later, we have this! I love it! I’ll probably tinker a little more before completely settling in, but I’m so pleased! This bathroom now feels complete! 💛 . Huge thanks to @theoutletjxn for partnering up with me on this!
