Three Minute Tea

Lately I’ve been on a tea kick. Hot tea… Iced tea… Green tea… Black tea… teas of all makes and models, really!

Perhaps my favorite tea I’ve made lately is what I’m calling Three Minute Tea. The recipe was loosely inspired by this pin on Pinterest, but with my own personal low calorie twist! It’s quick, easy, healthy, and perfect for when you’re by yourself and get a craving for something sweet and southern!

Three Minute Tea | { THE HIVE }

Here’s what you need:

A 16 oz. mason jar with a top (or a drink shaker)
One tea bag of whatever type of tea you choose
(I’ve made this with Blackberry Sage Black Tea, Green Tea, and Red Tea. All delicious!)
1/2 Tablespoon Honey (our only ingredient with any calories!)
1 Packet Stevia

Slice of Lemon
4-5 Fresh Mint Leaves

Here’s what you do:

1. Heat up 1/2 cup of water (not quite to boiling) and place your teabag in to begin steeping.
2. Add your honey, stevia, squeezed lemon and mint to the steeping tea and stir.
3. Allow the tea to steep for about 1.5 to 2 minutes total.
4. Remove the tea bag and add about 1/4 cup cold water to the mix.
5. Fill the jar the rest of the way full with crushed ice.
6. Screw the top on the jar and shake vigorously for a few seconds. The hot tea will melt a good bit of the ice.
7. Unscrew the top, add a straw, and enjoy a glass of sweet, low-cal iced made extra southern by the mason jar you’re drinking it from! 🙂

This recipe is also fun to add a little variation to. I added frozen blackberries once before shaking and that added quite a nice flavor! What other variations do you think might be good here?!

Hope you enjoy the recipe! Happy Tuesday!
