I’m a big fan of white space. Since I’m such a visual person, I’m drawn to beautiful white space in art, print, and interiors. It’s just calming to my eyes and makes me feel at peace. A few years ago, a new magazine launched in Jackson (the name of which I can’t even remember) and the first time I looked at it, I thought, “This magazine isn’t going to last six months. The pages are a hot mess. There is text butting up to the very edge of each page — NO white space!” Sadly, that magazine did shut down after only about 5 issues. It may not have been the lack of white space, but I honestly think that was at least part of it! White space is necessary.
I like to apply that to life too. I’ve been a slightly less active on the blog this week because I’m trying to give myself some white space. Space to move and do other things and not stress about it. I love blogging SO SO MUCH, but sometimes it gets a little overwhelming. Especially when I set a solid list of deadlines for myself. When I do that, I’m not giving myself any white space to do things around the house, be a fully present mama and wife, go to bed early… So I’m trying to go a tiny bit easier on myself right now. And I gotta say I like it 🙂 This is definitely a season where I can go a little easy on myself so I’m taking advantage. That won’t always be the case, but right now I’m enjoying this season.
How do y’all feel about white space? What does “white space” mean to you?
Thank you so much for dropping by today!! Have a LOVELY weekend!!!
