Price and I have been pretty into mixology lately! I love playing around creating new cocktails and Price loves playing with the classic Old Fashioned using different bitters, different liquors, and adding this or that to see how it affects the taste!

His favorite Old Fashioned inspired go-to is a Donahoo original, The Ron Howard, and my favorite go-to these days is The 30s Club!

Anyway, we have nailed down a few essentials for our home cocktail making, so I wanted to share those! I also recently rearranged our bar shelf and was pretty happy with how it turned out, so you can have a peek at that too! 🙂

We absolutely love having a lemon juicer, a muddler, a strainer, and a measuring cup thing that measures ounces. We use these all the time! You can get some pretty great home bar sets that include most of these things! We have this one (and it’s on sale!), but I LOOOVE this one! So pretty! Also, for making the Ron Howard or variations thereof, Price needs lots of sugar cubes and different types of bitters! The set of bitters minis that we have seem to be sold out everywhere but this set looks pretty dang awesome! It’s interesting to me how big of a difference bitters (particularly different flavors) make in a drink!

We also love having some cool cocktail related books. Not only are these books pretty, but they’re filled with great info and recipes!

Price loves the Old Fashioned book and I think the orange Essential Bar Book is great looking + super informative! Tequila Mockingbird might be my favorite because all of the drinks are named after famous literary works, famous literary characters, or authors! It’s pretty fun to just flip through! 🙂 All of these make great stock the bar shower gifts too! We love giving these books to friends who are getting married!

Although it’s not technically a book, another one of my favorite things in our home bar is a vintage Mixer’s Index, which contains some great classic recipes! My parents gave ours to me for Christmas a couple of years ago. It was my late grandparents’ so it’s extra special to me! These things are hard to find but I did find a couple for sale here and here. They’re SO neat!

You slide the tab all the way over to Index, locate the cocktail you want to make, and it tells you what number to slide to to get your recipe! I think that’s super cool 🙂

That Bee’s Knees cocktail is super simple and pretty delish!

Another thing we have going on on our bar are twinkle lights. I put them up at Christmas and, even through the rearranging of the bar, I left them up! They add such magic, especially at night!
