Dooley Day

October 18, 2002 is the day my sweet little brother Dooley went home to be with The Lord. Because of the injuries he suffered from a car accident twelve years ago today, the 17th, it was time for him to be called to his eternal home.

We miss him so much, but are SO thankful for the knowledge of the fact that we do get to see him again one day!

Last year on the 18th, I shared a few fun photos of this silly guy, and two years ago I shared a little tribute to him. Feel free to take a look! 🙂

Tomorrow, our family plans on having a big brunch filled with lots of food and Dooley stories in observance of what we like to call Dooley Day. I can’t wait! 🙂 And how wonderful it will be to have my brand new baby niece, Rowan, experience her first Dooley Day (although I’m certain she won’t remember a second of it!) 😉

Thanks to everyone who helps us keep Dooley’s legacy alive! I don’t think he’ll ever be forgotten… He was just SO special! 🙂

Thank you for stopping by today! Feel free to leave a Dooley story in the comments if you have a good one!!!! 😉 XOXO!

After you returned to school that week, or the next. You sat with me in art class- (Sunnye Mcgraws class) you didn’t know me well but for whatever reason you shared his art work via a spiral bound sketch pad (as I remember it). That was special, and although I don’t know him personally I think of him often when you post your own drawings/artwork and remember his talent. Y’all have a great family – I’m proud to call my friends!

I remember Dooley, though I only really got to know him for the year of my 6th Grade when my parents were on furlough there. It might make you smile to know I had a crush on him. You are right in saying that he was very funny and, well, as sweet as ANY 6th Grade boy could be. I remember when we were on our way to a camp or something in the church bus, he had this miniature teletubby with him. I don’t remember why, but I think I was kind of sad about something, and he gave it to me. haha I was really sad to hear of his passing when we came back to visit Broadmoor one time my senior year of high school. It was a shock to realize that someone my own age could have passed away so suddenly. I realized that none of us are immune, and we have to take each day as the present that it is. Thank God that He is watching over your little brother, and I think your family’s tradition is very fun and touching. I will be praying for you all tomorrow. Hugs!

I will never forget the “capture the flag” games on Coachmans Place in the old neighborhood. We were so blessed to have Dooley in our lives. Prayers for all of the family and friends.

Dooley was an amazing person, always smiling and making others laugh. I think one of greatest attributes was the way he treated every person the same.

Oh my, I have so many stories! One of the funniest ones was on New year’s eve, a group of BBC kids were at the parents house for a party. All Scott’s friends were at the bonfire trying to blow something up and Amber Grace’s friends were in the den playing games and taking. Dooley was sitting on the edge of the sofa braiding her hair in tiny little plattes. Dooley was concentrating so hard on his handiwork and he was drooling saliva all into her hair and not just a little!!!! Wow, I could go on and on! All my family loves the Miller family so much! Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your sweet family! Dooley will never be forgotten!

At Broadmoor Sunday School in the early days, Jordan, Laurel, & Dooley made bird feeders out of ice cream cones filled with peanut butter & thickly topped with birdseed. A yarn handle was added to serve as a hanger. They got into the car holding their bird feeders carefully & upon arriving at home, Jordan & Laurel gleefully went to hang their feeders up for the birds. Dooley, however, was sound asleep with only the yarn in his little hands. His face was smeared with peanut butter & birdseed. The ice cream cone must have tasted good too.
