If there is one thing I’m loving during this cooler weather, it’s a hot cocktail! Y’all know I love a cocktail, so I’m always up for trying something new and different! My go-to hot toddy has been bourbon, lemon, and honey, but since I bought the lovely ginger liqueur from Colony Wine Market that I needed to use in this cocktail, I incorporated it into the mix and I LOVE IT! It’s the perfect addition! (Can’t take full credit for the idea– Scott at CWM suggested it!)
Anyway, I feel like this is the perfect night cap for my always-cold self. It tastes wonderful and just feels so festive for these winter months! I also feel like it’s good for clearing up a cold!
Here’s what you need to make it!
4 oz hot water
1 oz bourbon of choice. Dark rum is also really good!
1/2 oz Giffard ginger liqueur
juice from 1/4 lemon
honey to taste
I simply get my hot water ready (confession: I run a 4 oz. cup without a coffee pod in my keurig) then add the rest of the ingredients, throw a lemon slice in there, and lightly stir! It’s so easy and so cozy! Sometimes I leave out the honey if I don’t want it quite as sweet and it’s still very good.
I’m really loving the Giffard ginger liqueur. It’s great to have multiple recipes to use such a unique spirit in! I’ll be working on a third just to add even more variety to the uses of this yummy stuff! 🙂
Now go and be warm and have a wonderful Thursday! Thank you for stopping by!
Supported by Colony Wine Market. All opinions are my own, as always!
I have never tried a hot cocktail before. I don’t drink that many cocktails anyway, but maybe we need to give this a try some time!
