I’ve been SO bad lately about posting over here on the blog. I tell myself all the time I’ll get better, but then I never do! haha but maybe this time, I really will! 😉
What brings me over to post today is a super fun morning we had a Dempsey’s school with his sweet little Kindergarten class! Dempsey and his little bestie, who also wears cochlear implants, have the same teacher AND the same audiologist, so we asked our audiologist if she’d come and talk to the class about these boys’ super powered ears! She came and read a book about an Elephant named Mellie who has cochlear implants, then she showed the kids an ear model with a CI, then she passed around a hearing aid and a cochlear implant for all the kids to touch! It was super informative for everyone, even those of us who are familiar with CIs!!
My sweet friends at Whimsy Cookie in Ridgeland made come cochlear implant cookies for the kids to have as a special snack, then each kid got to take home an elephant slap bracelet to remind them of Mellie and to help them remember what a gift hearing is!!
Dempsey says having his audiologist coming to his class was very cool and he says it opened up the floor for lots of questions from his classmates about his ears for the rest of the day. If only I could’ve been a fly on his shoulder to hear the questions and to hear Demps’s answers! 😉
>>> here is a video if you want to take a peek at that! <<<
>>> and here is my “Dempsey’s ears” tag on this here blog where you can read more about his hearing journey! <<<
We are so grateful for cochlear implants and for all the doors they have opened for my deaf child’s hearing, PLUS all the relationship doors they’ve opened for really our whole family! God’s plan isn’t always easy, but it’s always so, so good!
Thank you for being here!! I hope you’re having a great week! XO!
