Chipotle Ginger Margarita

Hey friends! I hope you’re having a good week!

For a lot of people, the new year brings with it the desire to mix things up a little bit! To change habits, to start doing this or that more, doing this or that better, and so on. Why can’t the new year include taking your cocktail game to the next level?!

I made a recent visit to my favorite wine and liquor shop, Colony Wine Market, and picked up a bottle of Giffard Ginger Liqueur. Scott, the owner there, helped me select this after I told him I wanted to shake up my margarita game! I love a good marg, but thought now was as good a time as any to try something a little different!

Scott told me about the Chipotle Ginger Margarita that he was a fan of, and since I love all things spicy and/or gingery, it sounded totally up my alley!

Here’s what you need for this fun little mixed drank:

1 1/2 ounces El Jimador blanco tequila

3/4 ounce ginger liqueur

1/2 ounce pineapple juice

1/2 ounce agave nectar or simple syrup

1/2 ounce lime juice (or juice from 1/2 lime)

Chipotle Powder

Coarse Salt

Lime Wedge

To rim the glass: Mix two tablespoons of coarse salt with two pinches of chipotle powder. Run your lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then place your glass upside down in the salt/chipotle powder to adhere the mixture to the rim.

Fill the glass with ice if you wish to enjoy your cocktail on the rocks! Leave it alone if you want it chilled.

Combine tequila, ginger liqueur, pineapple juice, agave nectar, and lime juice in a shaker and mix. Pour over your ice mixture OR add ice to your shaker and strain your cocktail into prepared glass for a chilled marg.

Now for the best part… ENJOY!

The chipotle, ginger, and pineapple sure do add a little unexpected vibrance to your margarita! I love having the little hint of spice from the chipotle. (I usually take a leftover pinch full of salt and chipotle and add it to the drink for a little extra yumminess!)

// Side note: I found my chipotle powder at Kroger on the spices aisle, but I did have to look kinda hard for it. Only one brand carried it (this brand) so just beware that it might take you a second to locate it once you’re in front of the spices! //

Stay tuned for another cocktail recipe with this same ginger liqueur in the coming weeks (because if you’re like me, you’re like “why would I buy this bottle of liqueur for just one recipe?”  Feel ya, babe. I’ll hook ya up with more options!)

Thank y’all SO much for stopping by today! OH!!! And if you haven’t seen this post on instagram, miiiight wanna take a look at that! 🙂 Good luck!!! XO!
