Five Easy-To-Keep Resolutions You Can Still Make

Five REALLY easy resolutions you can totally keep this year

Hola, and happy almost weekend!

With the new year upon us, if you’re anything like me, you’re seeing friends, peers, influencers, and celebs posting about the new year resolutions they’ve made. Also, if you’re like me, you might still be waffling with whether or not to make any because, based on past experience, failure is very probable 😉

So this year, I’m taking a different (and slightly late) approach to the new year resolution. I’m making five mini resolutions that are pretty fail proof. Here they are!

ONE: Embrace your signature color, accessory, physical attribute, etc and have fun with it!

So I’ve kinda embraced yellow as my signature color. I just love it! It makes me happy. So I’m resolving to pop a little more yellow into my life this year! I just updated our master bedding (more on that next week!) and a teeny bit of yellow is included. I love the yellow emojis when communicating on my phone. I recently purchased one lightweight and one heavier weight yellow scarf to throw on when the opportunities present themselves.

A friend of mine has made red lips her signature thing. Even when she’s just working out or taking her kid to school, she always puts on the red lipstick. It’s how people know her and I love it!

My sister-in-law has a gray streak in her hair and she embraces it and totally rocks it! She doesn’t try to cover it up with color. Instead, she takes really good care of her hair and experiments with different styling every now and then. It’s definitely her signature and I adore it! I think it’s so cool.

What can be your signature? Play it up and have fun with it!

TWO: Finish out all your ____ then reward yourself with a brand new one!

I’m filling in the blank with lipsticks and candles. I have six or seven half-used lipsticks in a bag in my purse. Instead of buying any new lipstick this year, I’m gonna wait til I use up all the ones I still like! (If they were getting gross or I just hated the color, I threw them out. Still left with a  good handful though!) Then, I’ll let myself get a nice new lipstick or two (hey, maybe one will become an aforementioned signature for me?! Who knows?) and go from there.

I also want to use all the half-burned candles I have sitting around my house. I’m the worst about going into a gift store, buying a new candle, then burning it about halfway before the story repeats itself. I’ll put the half-used one in a cabinet and set the new one out in its place. Instead of allowing this to continue happening, I’m gonna stick with what I got. Once I’m down to one candle per designated candle space, then I will let myself consider new candles!

You could fill in the blank with bars of soap, bottles of lotion, or whatever else pops into yo head!

THREE: Celebrate more. I’m choosing to celebrate with bubbly with the hubby 🙂

This is so easy! Great day at work? Celebrate. Got a refund check for an overpayment from your insurance company? Celebrate. Your daughter actually chose to crap in the potty today instead of in her pants? CELEBRATE THAT ISH! Because why the heck not. Life is short, people!

I’m going to try to keep this extra easy by always having two bottles of champagne/bubbly on hand. One to keep in the fridge, then one with which to replace it once used! I’m loving this La Vieille Ferme brut from Colony Wine Market. (It’s the one in the picture at the top.) It is delish, plus the bottle is pretty! It would make an awesome hostess gift if you ever got in a pinch. And since you have two bottles on hand, you have one to spare, right?! I also recently tried a sparkling red wine from Colony Wine Market that a bunch of y’all tried too and loved right along with me! CWM has the best selection of bubbles. I love perusing their carbonated wine section every visit!

FOUR: Give yourself one mini challenge per month.

Finish that book. Try that recipe that Pinterest keeps telling you you’ve already pinned. Pay for the person behind you in the drive through line. Frame that sweet piece of art your kid made you two Mother’s Days ago. Memorize a new scripture that has come to mean a lot to you. This is SO easy! You can pick a new one every month and have fun with it!

FIVE: Invite that person/couple over for dinner.

Is there someone you’ve had on your heart to invite into your home for a meal? Yes? This is the year to brave up and invite them, even if you feel awkward about it! Price and I have had several couples on our minds for a while now to invite over, all of which we barely know!, so once our house is back in decent order, we plan on having them all over! This is a great time to challenge yourself to finish your dining room, play with table settings, and perfect that new recipe you’re gonna try this month! 😉

See how easy all of those are? Well, that last one might not be easy. But you have an entire year to get it done! Just don’t wait til the last minute. Unless you feel the Lord lay on your heart to invite them to a New Year’s Eve dinner 😉

What are some other ones we can add? Y’all always have the best ideas!

I hope you’ve had a great week! Y’all are awesome! XO!
