Keeping [ the color of ] Summer Around Through The Fall

Summer is an exciting time of beaching, pooling, spending time outdoors with family, and traveling! But it’s also a time of extreme heat, especially down here in Mississippi!

I love summer because it means everyone just seems to relax a little more, but after a few months of it, I do long for the temps of fall and busting into part of my wardrobe that I’ve had to ignore for the last half of the year. Eventually when fall rolls around, the main thing I miss about summer is the tan. The look of a healthy glow and minimalism when it comes to makeup.

Since I do want to carry that part of summer with me into fall, I wanted to share a few of my favorite products to help with that!

How to hang onto a summery glow into fall! // www.thehiveblog.com

(1) Bronzer. I’ve tried several in my day and I always end up going back to this one from Clinique! I like to use a brush vs. the pads because I feel like I have more control over the lightness or darkness of my face tan!

(2) Goldy shades of eye shadow. I always feel much more summery and glowy when I wear shades of gold on the lids. I LOVED the golds in the Sephora+Pantone eye palette that came out two Christmases ago, but sadly it’s been discontinued, so the best sub I’ve found is this pretty palette from Stila! The golds are gorge! I like keeping it simple with a softer gold all over (the eyelid area that is… Not your face…) then going with a deeper gold in the crease area.

(3) Coraly lip color. This tint by Becca (I love the color Dragonfruit for my skin tone!) is made for the lips and the cheeks! Although I mainly keep it to lips, I do use it on my cheeks occasionally too and it’s so nice and easy! During the summer, I’ll use this stuff by itself. But to amp it up a little bit, I add….

(4) …Some darker lip color! I fell head over heels in love with the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (color, Cruella) when Sephora gave it to my as my birthday freebie! I personally love using it on top of the Becca Dragonfruit. I just add a little stroke and mash those lips together to blend it all up and truly love the color it creates! It’s matte, semi-bold, and lasts a long time!

For a darker evening look, I’ll use this by itself. The further we get into fall, the more I’ll probably be using this deep, saturated hue!

(5) Self tanner. Although I hear rave reviews about this stuff, I haven’t had time to try it out yet! So in the meantime, I keep a semi-tan with the help of Jergens Natural Glow Moistruizer. I mainly keep this to my arms, legs, and chest and let the bronzer take care of the color on my face. Although I’m not super olivey by nature, I use the kind made for medium to tan skin because I think it just works better! I normally cut it with just a little bit of plain lotion and slather it all over, being sure to rub it in completely. It does have a very mild scent, but it’s not offensive at all! I reapply every three days or so and after just a week or two (even when you cut it with regular lotion) you’ll start noticing a pretty color hanging around! Warning: You will want to wash your hands after each application!

So that’s how I help the color of summer last just a little longer! What are you favorite glowy essentials? I would love to hear!

These are all great picks! I love bronzer. I use a big brush and wear it like blush.
