I love a good celebration. So one of my favorite things to do is look at National Holiday calendars and see what random yet worthwhile things I can celebrate! When I saw that April 30th is National Oatmeal Cookie Day, I knew I had to get in on it. I LOVE oatmeal cookies!! With raisins. Without them. With chocolate chips. Or MnMs. With craisins. With nuts. Without nuts. Really, as long as an oatmeal cookie is there, I’m here for it!
I was in the Fondren area of Jackson recently so I stopped in the Corner Market right there next to Brent’s and grabbed everything I needed for this Oatmeal Cookie recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction. (I don’t know Sally, but I LOVE her site! I think she and I would be great friends.)
I grabbed all high quality ingredients – organic when possible – to elevate the health factor of these cookies just a tad 😉 then I foiled that when I saw all the sprinkles on the baking aisle and got the idea to cover the cookie dough balls in sprinkles before baking! With sprinkles, I honestly can’t help myself…
The cookies turned out SO well and I loved how they looked with all the sprinkles!! The kiddos loved them too and I credit the sprinkles for drawing them in initially! 😉 Two ingredients I’d like to specifically point out are the organic old fashioned oats from Bob’s Red Mill and the Farmer’s Straight Molasses. I got tickled to see that this molasses is “good on stuff and in recipes.” Bonus- it’s a Mississippi product! But I believe the cookies turned out so well due in large part to these ingredients! 🙂
