The Wall Library Display

I’m really excited about today’s post! It’s about the situation I recently got figured out in the wall library in our dining room! I love love love this piece. It’s big, yet really simple, and provides us with some awesome storage at the bottom. The top has a lot of beautiful display area, yet I’ve always had a hard time getting it to look right.

A couple of months ago when I was getting ready for a party, I pulled out the stack of random plates that I’ve collected over the years. I’ve always had a thing for unique salad or dessert plates, so I tend to buy five or six per year when I see some cool ones. They’re usually from a sale at Anthropologie (check their current options here!), and they’re usually the last one or two left in a certain pattern. So over the past 12 or so years, I’ve accumulated quite the eclectic collection!

Anyway, I say all that to say… I love all of these plates! But I realized that I never get to see them other than the times when I think to pull them out for parties. So it was then that I decided to put them out where we could enjoy them more regularly — in the wall library!

I cleaned Michael’s out on plate stands, then stayed up late one night arranging and rearranging til I had it just how I wanted it. I also got to display some of the railroad china that my aunt gifted us when Price and I got married! My grandfather used to collect any and everything having to do with train travel back when it was the super chic way to get from point A to point B had gifted it to her. It’s really different and super beautiful, but it too never got seen!

Between the railroad china, the salad plates, a few pitchers, two unique sets of pretty glasses, and some Wolfe birds, we had ourselves a happy, colorful case that I really liked. Mission completed!
