Winter Decorations

I LOVE Christmas. So so much. Everything about it! Including the decorations šŸ™‚ So once the new year rolls around every year, I have to force myself to take down all of the Christmas stuff and put it away til the next November 1 šŸ˜‰ One thing I’ve done the past few years, though, is leave up stuff that I view more as “wintery” than “Christmassy.” I think twinkle lights, greenery, and neutral little accents here and there keep things magical without being overly Christmassy.

We left up more this year than we ever have and I gotta be honest– I’m loving all the extra twinkle! It’s going to be really hard for me to take all these down when spring hits us! But I think I’ll survive. It’ll be time by then to roll on into the new season!

I do think that subconsciously I’m trying to hold onto the season of life I’m in right now. A very short season where Dempsey is still so little and cuddly. He was born right around the time we put everything up, so all he has known his whole little life is our house looking sparkly and magical! (Oh, and partially under construction… ha!) Anyway, it’s been such a sweet and precious season watching my family grow into something extra special as everyone steps into their new roles as big brother of a little brother, big sister, and daddy of three. I want to keep the current vibes around just a teeny bit longer!

We do have a lot to look forward to with the spring, though, so moving to a new season won’t be bad at all! Wilson will start baseball this year (and Price is considering coaching!), Dempsey will hopefully be gearing up for cochlear implants (more on that soon!), and our construction should be winding up, giving us the ability to have parties and dinners and gatherings over here again! We have really missed hosting over the past few months. I’m hoping to find a sweet little toddler ballet program for Lily Ryan since she’s obsessed with wearing tutus and showing me her twirls all the time (all of which are just the cutest), so if any of you local friends have any suggestions, I’d love to hear!

Do you do winter decorations? If so, what do you leave up? Or do you do completely separate ones from your Christmas stuff? I’d love to hear!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Means the absolute world! XO!

Going strong on the winter decor over here! Dried limbs from the christmas tree randomly placed, a whitewashed pinecone garland, a silver snowflake runner, and a garland that holds our Christmas cards that we received this year. I love to enjoy everyone cards for more than the couple of weeks in December after we’ve received them!

That’s a great idea to leave christmas cards out for longer! Totally doing that next year. I bet your winterized home looks perfect! šŸ˜‰
