Easy Hot Cocoa For Two

With Christmas in the air and so many wonderful movies to be watched, it only makes sense to have an easy (slightly healthier, all natural) go-to cocoa recipe for this time of year!

Every year, Price and I do our very very best to leave some time at the end of the day for snuggling up and watching Christmas movies to help boost that holiday mood! It’s not uncommon for it to take 2 or 3 nights to get all the way through one flick, but the time together is always great!

I love having something to sip on while movie viewing, so I’ve been making this easy cocoa recipe for us often this year! You can go full fat/sugar and it tastes super awesome, or you can tone it down a little bit and make it a tad healthier and still have it taste pretty dang great! Either way, it’s all natural, which is more than a packet of Swiss Miss mix can say! 🙂

Here’s what you need:

2 cups milk. (I do 1 cup skim, one cup unsweetened almond milk)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup sugar (which I usually replace at least half of with Stevia in the Raw!)

What you do:

Pour the milk into a sauce pan and heat over low heat. While the milk warms up, add the other ingredients and stir well. Once everything is mixed together, continue heating on low until the mixture is just the right temp! For me, this usually takes about 5 minutes.

Carefully pour it into two mugs, garnish as you wish, and enjoy!

My favorite garnish is mini marshmallows (duh.) but I’ve started liking to add some peppermint in there too! It’s delish.

Speaking of favorites… What are your favorite Christmas movies?

Our regulars consist of Home Alone, Home Alone 2, Christmas Vacation of course, The Holiday (preferred by me), Gremlins (preferred by Price), Trading Places, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Santa Clause, Miracle on 34th Street, Fred Claus, Four Christmases, and this year we added The Polar Express to our collection because both of us had never seen it but had heard great things! We started it last night, but I passed out about 30 minutes in…

I’m always looking for a good one to add to the mix! I’d love to know your Christmas movie go-to!

Thanks so much for reading today. Hope you have a great one! Merry Christmas! XOXOXO!
