Friday Fiesta!

I don’t think it’s a secret to anyone who knows me well that Mexican food is my favorite type of food. And Sombra Mexican Kitchen is quite possibly my favorite Mexican restaurant! Their chips, salsa, and queso are top notch, and their margaritas… Oh my gosh they are so good. SO GOOD. Their Sombra Salad with that chipotle vinaigrette and their super fresh sizzling fajitas… I could go on for days about how much I love these dishes! And although I’m not a big rib eater, many a folk have informed me that they have the best ribs in town! Way to go, Sombra, for quietly dominating the Jackson area rib scene! I love it.

Since Sombra does hold such a special place in my heart, I thought it only appropriate to save it for the finale in the local restaurant giveaway series I’ve been doing over the past several weeks! It’s been a blast talking about CHAR, Amerigo, Anjou, and Saltine along the way!

But now I want to tell y’all about Sombra. Particularly their catering! Because, with their latest addition to their catering menu, their game has been majorly stepped up.

I don’t know if I can accurately express how happy I was when I heard this piece of news: Sombra now has margarita mix, so you can have THE Sombra Margarita at your next catered event by them! Rent out a frozen margarita machine, fill it with the good stuff, and your next party just got taken to a whole new platform! I’m not sure what my excitement level over this piece of news says about me, but whatever it is, I’ll own it. This was not an option just a few months ago!

In addition to their killer margaritas, they can do their ultra popular taco and fajita bars (which are super universally pleasing because almost anyone can concoct a dish they like from beef, chicken, cheese, pico, guacamole, rice, beans… You know, all that good stuff!)

They can also do the ever popular butter crunch cake, my personal favorite: the baja brownie, their tres leche cake, and lemon squares on a dessert bar!

Sombra really is an awesome catering option because, as previously stated, most everyone can find something they like about Mexican food, and the food can be really dressed up (read: clear plates and pineapple salsa) or kept really fun and casual (with bright and colorful fiesta ware!)

If you mention reading about their catering here on The Hive, Sombra will give you $50 to the restaurant if you book your next catered event with them! (That deal is also good at CHAR, Amerigo, Anjou, and Saltine!! Heck yeah!)

  1. We LOVE Sombra! Best place for a date night, or a “I don’t feel like cooking tonight” dinner. Last time we went, everyone was so incredibly friendly and the food was delicious! My favorite restaurant by a long shot!

  2. I love Sombra for their lively, homey atmosphere, impressive bar selection, and fantastic fajitas. Also, LOVE that their guacamole and salads come with jicama! What an underrated veggie that provides a fun kick to a trustworthy classic.

  3. I’ve never been to Sombra but would love to go and experience it to see what all the hype is about, especially the ribs!

  4. I LOVE everything about Sombra. Their margeritas and salsa are so fresh, and everything on their menu is amazing. I prefer the chimichanga or the beef and beans nachos. Chandler loves their ribs. A kid friendly environment with a patio is always a plus too. ?

  5. What I love about Sonbra is how fresh everything tastes. They have done an amazing job at creating a new level of Mexican cuisine here in Jackson. It’s much more that some tortillas covered in cheese. It’s the freshest of ingredients prepared in the best way possible. I could not love it more!! Way to go Sombra!!
