They Just Grow Up So Fast!

As of this weekend, Wilson is officially in a big boy bed WITH a box spring! Since Christmas-ish, he’s been in his twin bed with just a mattress, which just kept looking a little skimpy to me, so as of Saturday, we have a box spring and things are starting to really feel like they’re coming together in his room! The bed may or may not be a hair taller than I expected, buuuut whatever! It is what it is right now! 😉

Although things are not 100% where I want them to be, I’m pretty happy with his bright, boyish room. And he says he likes it, too, which is most important!!

One thing I always admired about my brother Jordan’s room growing up was that his bed had a trundle, so it was super convenient for spend the night company (or for siblings who just maybe wanted to sleep in the same room as their brother every now and then!) SO, for Wilson’s bed, I was set on a trundle. Spend-the-night company isn’t really a thing right now, but I have a feeling it isn’t too far off!

Now, finding a bed that Price and I both like is a challenge. Finding one that we both like that has the option for a trundle was a MAJE challenge. But we were able to find something that met both of our standards with Land of Nod’s Larkin bed! It doesn’t come standard with a trundle, but you can order this and it works as one.  Just be sure you buy a lower mattress for the trundle bed! We ordered this one and it works perfectly.

One thing that I think really makes the room is the art. It’s been in Wilson’s room since we moved to this house, but having it over the bed makes me love it even more! It’s from VIEW GALLERY and I just adore it. VIEW has the COOLEST stuff! And it looks awesome on that birch tree wallpaper (which is sadly discontinued in this color way.) I got the wallpaper from SummerHouse, and I’m 99% sure it’s still available in several other great color ways!

Another thing I love in this room is the gallery wall over the antique mantle that we put in there. The lion art is from his second birthday party, the Wilson shark is the design I used for his thank you notes and gift enclosure cards, the Paul Bunyan piece is something we got at Stray at Home one year that just spoke to both Price and me for our future little boy’s room, the “Be Brave” print is loosely what we based part of Wilson’s third birthday party theme on, the wreath was his door hanger when he was born, the black and white photo is of Wilson watching Price play softball (which used to be in our bathroom but Wilson asked if he could have it in his room! Heart explosion!) and the rest was just cool and worked with what we had going on. But I like how the whole grouping came together! 🙂

Wilson has a thing for lions, in case you can’t tell 😉

Anyway, now that Wilson has his big boy bed, I guess we’ve got some rules to start putting into place as far as getting out of the bed and what not. A friend of ours told us about these little clocks that turn green when it’s okay to get up. They don’t make any noise or anything to wake the kid up, but apparently kids catch on quickly to the “if the light isn’t green, I can’t get out of here yet” concept. So one of those is probably on our short list for this room! (I also like how this one looks AND it has great reviews!)

I hope that all of you had a fantastic weekend! Ours was fairly non eventful (in a good way — especially after all of last week’s events!) and I’m looking forward to getting back into a regular routine this week! One thing we did get done this weekend was pruning our rose bushes! Confession: We have never pruned the ones at this house… Yikes… So it was waaayyy overdue. We still have a ways to go on this yard, but as of yesterday, I feel very hopeful that it’ll come together in the somewhat near future! 😉

Have all of you recovered after MLK + school cancellations!?

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Means the world to me! Have a fantastic day! XO!
