A Day of Fun In Jackson

Bloggers take over Jackson, Mississippi!

Hola, friends! I am SO excited about today’s post because it’s been such a fun memory jog of last week’s “blogger day” where several local bloggers and I got to spend the day experiencing Jackson, Mississippi! Visit Jackson was so gracious to host us and hook us up with a super fun itinerary. And I absolutely loved getting to meet some of my favorite bloggers face to face! I’ve been following all of these ladies for a while now, but had only officially met two out of the group. So meeting the other three was seriously such a treat. I love all of these ladies and cannot wait to hang out again soon!

Here’s who all I got to spend the day with. (I’ll go from left to right in the above photo)

Kelsie Bynum. You can find her blog here and her instagram here. This teeny little southern blonde with the cutest dimples I’ve ever seen in my life is larger than life and just a complete joy to hang out with! Kelsie lives in Laurel, so you know she’s good people!

Jane Foster. Jane is fabulous. That is the first word that comes to mind! This woman is gorgeous, so full of wisdom, such a smart businesswoman, and just crazy talented when it comes to parties and style! Jane lives in Canton! Find her and her blog here and instagram here!

Meagan Adams. Her blog is here and her insta is here! I’ve known Meagan for a while now and just absolutely adore her. She’s the best, and gets credit for a heavy hand in organizing this fun event! Meagan lives about a mile from me out in Madison!

Kassy Randazzo. I had never met Kassy before, but have followed her on insta for a while. She’s even cuter in person! She loves interior design and is super down to earth. Loved getting to visit with her! She lives in Clinton. Find her on Instagram here and find her blog here.

Kathryn DiGennaro. Check her out on Instagram here and on her blog here. This sweet newlywed just exudes charm and class. I had the best time chatting with her and can’t wait to hang out with her again! Kathryn lives in Jackson!

So our itinerary started on Thursday afternoon at Cathead Vodka. We got a tour of the distillery, learned SO MUCH, and got to do a tasting! Well, everyone else got to do a tasting 😉 I did get to smell everything and listen to everyone else’s reviews of each spirit, so I felt like I was in on the action! Not only are there several Cathead Vodkas, but there is Bristow Gin, HooDoo Chickory Liqueur, and Nothing Too Fancy Whiskey. All of these spirits are made in Jackson, which I think is super cool. I highly recommend taking the distillery tour because there is way too much cool info to share in just one blog post!

And after your tour, you can hang out in their kid-friendly, pet-friendly bar, or head outside and play cornhole on their beautiful grassy lawn! They also have an event space, about which I had no clue, and it’s super cool. Definitely check it out if you’re looking to host a small to medium sized event any time soon!

Next stop was The Apothecary at Brent’s Drugs. I’ve been here several times before and love it every time. I think half the times I’ve been, I’ve been pregnant, so I’m super familiar with the fact that they do “Temperance” drinks (a.k.a. mocktails!)  I went off menu and let the bartender create some incredible ginger lemon concoction that was delicious beyond words! I always love asking for fun mocktails at crafty bars like The Apothecary! 🙂 The atmosphere in this place is unbeatable (very cozy and dark and 20s inspired), and as I found out last week, they have delicious hummus served with bread homemade by one of their servers! It was completely incredible, so be sure to order it next time you’re in!

Last stop was Barrelhouse just a few steps away from The Apothecary! I had only been here once before and loved it, so I was happy to get the chance to go back! This cool bar/restaurant has a great modern atmosphere and a great beer selection, including non-alcholic O’Doul’s! 😉

They brought out five or six appetizers, so after eating those, we decided that we weren’t even hungry for real food! We did, however, split a blonde brownie after all the apps just to have a little sweet end cap to the evening 🙂 I think my favorite appetizer was the charcuterie platter. I’m ashamed to say I didn’t take a photo fo the menu, so I don’t remember exactly what this was called, but it was a very “Mississippi” charcuterie platter with cut up sausage, saltines, wedges of cheddar cheese, some awesome mustards, delicious pickles, and more. I loved every single bite! The tuna poke nachos got very high marks as well, but I’m weird about tuna in general, but especially when I’m preggo, so I steered clear! It looked gorgeous though!
