Hair and Make Up

A couple of months ago after submitting a freelance article for a local publication, I was asked for a headshot for them to include in the contributors section of the magazine. I was flipping through pictures on my computer and realized that I only had two decent head shots, and I’d been using them for almost 3 years now! So I told myself, “Get some new head shots, Laurel…”

I listened to myself and got the ball rolling on the matter! I contacted Beth Morgan Cowan, a photographer whose work I have been admiring for like a year via Instagram! We had some mutual friends, and everyone who knows her loves her and her work, so I knew I’d be in good hands.

I also knew I had a great resource at my new fave salon, Colorize, for event hair and makeup! When I scheduled my appointment to get my MUAH done, they told me to make a pinterest board with looks I liked so they could sort of know what direction to go. (Seriously, what did we do before Pinterest?)

What I ended up with was a smorgasbord of different looks, so after talking all of them through with my Colorize girls, we landed on a hair style and a makeup style to shoot for! And they executed perfectly. It was JUST what I wanted! (Well, it was just what I wanted after I asked for a tad more eyeliner and mascara! They happily obliged!) 😉

The makeup they used was awesome, by the way. It was Mirabella, which is like Bare Minerals, only better! And it’s only available through salons, so you can’t get this stuff just anywhere.

I left the salon and headed straight for Beth. We had our little shoot in a pretty little pecan orchard and I was laughing the entire time… Beth is awesome, y’all!

I loved all of the pics. I loved the way my look turned out. It was a great day. And now I have some new head shots to submit when needed!

Check that off the list! 😉 SO glad to have new pictures!!

On another note, how was y’alls weekend?! I had a great one filled with Stray at Home, Mother’s Day, and working on the house. THANKS to everyone who came out to Stray at Home, by the way! It was SUCH a blast!! Can’t wait to share more with you about how it went! Stay tuned!!
