Last month, a group of girls from our life group (also known as Sunday school, only cooler because we do LIFE together!) did a little weekend staycation retreat in Jackson! We had the absolute BEST time seeing and doing right here in Jackson! We rented an awesome AirBnB in Belhaven, the Sunday House, and people were able to come and go as they pleased because we were so close to home! We rented the house for Friday and Saturday, so some people stayed just one night, and some stayed both! Several people just came to eat or do the spa, then went home to tend to little ones, and it worked out perfectly because it was all right here!

The main question I’ve gotten about our staycation is, “what all did y’all do?!”
Well, there was PLENTY to do!! I’ll give you a little breakdown!
Friday afternoon/evening was extremely low key. People started arriving around 4 p.m., including me, and we constructed a big charcuterie table for people to enjoy for supper Friday night! I also did a quick time-lapse video of that, which you can see here! 🙂

Lesley, the Sunday House host, had the house’s signature cocktail waiting on us when we arrived, which was an AWESOME touch! (The little extras and details she adds made our stay that much better. I seriously cannot recommend The Sunday House enough!) So as people arrived on Friday, we just sipped and ate and explored the house and found where we wanted to sleep… And basically just sat around chatting and playing games! It was a dream!
Saturday morning, we woke up and ate some breakfast casserole made by my buddy Rachel + some leftovers from the night before, drank coffee, and just lounged! Then we started migrating over to The Westin hotel’s Soul Spa! They have a beautiful spa with a great relaxation lounge, which is available to anyone who books a service at the spa! You also get use of their cool showers, the sauna, and the pool. They have an outdoor hot tub which was sadly broken when we visited, but we made do without it! After my massage, I thoroughly enjoyed flipping through the magazines I brought with me that I never make time to flip through while at home! It was glorious 🙂
We all ate lunch by the indoor pool at the spa, then headed back to the Sunday House. Some people had to run home or run a few errands, and some of us took out on foot to explore the neighborhood while making our way to the new donut shop in the area called Campbell’s Craft Donuts! It was so cute and I thought the donuts were wonderful!

After donuts, we walked back to the house, fixed some drinks, and sat around the fire pit outside! It was the perfect day to enjoy the fresh air! We tried so hard to get a fire to stay lit — the inner pyro in me was pulling out every trick in my book — but the firewood was too wet, so no matter what we tried, we couldn’t get anything to last very long. I can’t say that the trying wasn’t fun though! Loved it 🙂
By this point, it was well into the afternoon, so we stared getting ready for the evening! Those of us who could hopped over to The Library Lounge at The Fairview Inn, which was less than a half a mile from the house, and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere and fun cocktails! From there, we went to Lou’s Full Serv, which is a fantastic local restaurant! We spent a couple of hours there before heading back to the house for pajamas, an indoor fire (with gas logs!), and more hanging out playing games and chatting! We all treated ourselves to a somewhat early bed time, then got up the next morning in time to get to church!
It was a dream weekend spent with some of my favorite people. There really is so much to do around Jackson! If you have a group of friends, or need a little life group girls bonding weekend like we did, I highly recommend doing something like this! And as I’ve already stated, I can’t say enough great things about The Sunday House!
Life with a solid group of like-minded people is so clutch. We are always doing our best to be iron sharpening iron, growing in our faith while having the most fun! If you’re not in a life group, I would really encourage you to find one at a great church and get involved! I cannot even begin to express what a huge impact our life group as made on our family over the years. We all need great community!
