The New Guest Room

Happy Monday! I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend!

We had some fun in Starkville with our families, then hosted our life group Friendsgiving last night at our house (more on that later) so we had a busy but ultra fun time being around a bunch of people we love!

Something we did last week to sort of kick off the weekend early was we spent the night upstairs at our house Thursday night! I know it sounds so weird… Allow me to explain.

Some of y’all may know that, now that we have baby girl on the way, our old guest room is becoming a nursery. Which means we were going to be left with few options of places to sleep guests. Which isn’t the end of the world, but it made Price and me start thinking back to a plan we had when we originally bought the house of dividing our huuuuge upstairs media room in half and adding a bathroom.

Well, after that “two week” project was completed nearly seven weeks later (ain’t that always the way with home construction??!), we now have a new upstairs guest room/office for The Lovely Bee, a cozier (read: smaller) media room, and a new bathroom!

To celebrate all the workers being out of our house for the time being, we holed up upstairs after putting Wilson to bed, took some chocolate chip cookies and milk with us, watched 30Rock til we fell asleep, then woke up enough to move over to the new guest room to sleep! It was so much fun and very relaxing… Kind of like a vacation in our own home!

Anyway, I wanted to share a few shots of the new guest room. I loved how it turned out! And I especially love the paint color on the walls: Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee.

I still love how the bright quilt my mama so kindly let me steal from her (made by her great aunt!) works with that brightly colored painting! (It’s not the best painting in the world buuuut it gets the job done of adding some pretty color!) 🙂

And I have dreams of filling the window seat with lots of big soft pillows one day and turning it into a cozy place that will hopefully be so inviting that I can’t help but stop from time to time and relax and open the window and just be. That thought brings a big smile to my face! 🙂

The office side of this room isn’t quiiite ready for pictures, but here’s a little peek!

More from the bathroom and media room to come in the very near future!
