How You Can Help Fight Human Trafficking

Donate to The WellHouse and do your part in helping end human slavery!

Today’s post is a little different for me, but the issue currently on the top of my mind is one that is a somber, yet prevalent, issue in our world today. Human trafficking. Child trafficking. Sex trafficking. All of it.

In light of some current hot topics that have a lot of people talking, the underlying issue with these hot topics which may or may not be true (some concrete evidence would be helpful!) is VERY true: HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS REAL.

Today I wanted to take a moment to point out one place that’s close to my heart that you can get involved in to make a difference in the world of human trafficking!

One of my best friends works for an organization in Birmingham called The WellHouse. The WellHouse is a Christ-centered home for women and girls rescued from human trafficking. The rescued victims are given a safe place to sleep, healthy meals, and all the physical and mental help they need. They are actually the only known residential rescue facility that has an on-site medical clinic specifically geared toward rehabbing human trafficking victims! I think that is wonderful, and you know those girls and women appreciate the specialized help!

The WellHouse hasn’t always been able to care for rescuees under 18, but because of the support of people like you and me, one of their most recent additions is that of WellHouse Child, where rescued girls under 18 can be cared for!

At The WellHouse, these girls and women are given the tools they need to get back on their feet, continue education, and continue to stay away from the trap of human trafficking. I encourage you to take a look at the 2019 Restoration Report for The WellHouse. It is VERY encouraging to see how they are helping rescued victims, who can then help slow future efforts of trafficking! Although it was not a light and fluffy read, Hannah’s Survivor Story in the Restoration Report is a beautiful picture of redemption. Hannah’s goal is to finish her education, then start speaking publicly about her experience in hopes of helping others stay away from the pitfalls.

You can support WellHouse by donating (you can do that here!) or by purchasing some items that have been crafted through the art rehab portion of WellHouse’s program in ShopWell!

Are you up for a challenge?! I specifically challenge you to donate $50 a month through this link!! Broken down, that’s about $13 a week. Less than $2 per day. I know this example is used all the time, but nix the cup of coffee from a coffee shop per day and your $50 has gone to something VERY worthwhile! Or when you’re at the sandwich shop, don’t get the chips. Saves you calories AND the money you could give to The WellHouse! I’m sure you can think of a hundred ways to save $2 per day! 🙂

I believe in The WellHouse organization, and believe that we can all do something to help! I am currently in the process of learning more about the Jackson, MS sex trafficking scene, so I’ll try to keep you updated on ways my Jackson area friends can help locally once I have some more concrete info.

THANK YOU for taking the time to read a little more about The WellHouse today! And please feel free to putt around their website and learn more about them! And don’t forget to consider donating!

You are amazing and YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFRENCE.

I’ll end with this:

GOD IS GOOD. ALL THE TIME. AND ALL THE TIME. GOD IS GOOD!
