Welcome back from the weekend, everybody! I hope y’all had a great one. We sure did! We got to spend some quality time with friends, plus we had a great time at the house just being family! I got some baby clothes sorted, so that felt pretty good. Now if only we had a room in our house for this little squirt… š More on that coming soon!
Meanwhile, let’s talk about a new Fifteen Dollar Bottle of wine! (If you’re asking, “What happened to Twelve Dollar Bottle?!” see this post for the background info there.)
A few things to know about this tasting:
(1) We did it at supper club, so there were a LOT of people involved. I loved having lots of input, but it did make my recording hard to hear when I went back and transcribed. So there are a few missing thoughts that I’m sure were great from people I just could not hear!
(2) Scott at Colony Wine Market said this bottle would pair well with steak, which was already on the menu for supper club. Since there was no way I could coordinate this tasting duringĀ dinner, I did it right after. So the pairing was not technically perfect, but I think it worked!
(3) The listing of tasters this round also has participants added because we had several people who didn’t drink anything, yet contributed to the conversation. So that’s why that listing is a little different this time!
As I mentioned, supper club was a bit chaotic so this recording was started after people had already sort of begun tasting. Let’s see what we got!
Laurel: I donāt really know what type of wine this is. Itās red. Itās from Italyā¦ But it doesnāt really say. All I know is Scott said it would pair well with our steaks so thatās why I brought it!
Avery: It smells like a blend. But it doesnāt taste like one! Itās got a little spice to it. A little more spicy than most blends, I would say.
Rachel: Is it recording yet?
Laurel: Yeah.
Price: Itās very mild and smooth.
Laurel: Yeah, pretty smooth with a little bite.
<lots of chatterā¦ Canāt really make out too muchā¦>
Will: Do not put that in the blog!
Courtney: Itās good!
Rachel: She records word for word, so watch out.
Laurel: I can leave that part out because honestly I have no idea what yāall were saying.
Avery: Will you put the part about Rachel asking if itās recording?
Laurel: Oh for sure.
Jessica: I donāt like the smell. Itās got a weird smell.
Will: Is it sweet?
Avery: It definitely goes well with red meat.
Price: It would go well with a cigar too. A good smooth wine always makes me want to smoke a cigar.
Laurel: I would say itās really smooth.
Courtney: I think itās really good!
Jessica: Itās kinda dry, right?
Laurel: I thinkā¦ doesnāt dry mean not sweet? I donāt knowā¦
Price: Dry means itās kinda got a littleā¦
Guin: Dry means not wet.
Laurel: Itās definitely red.
(Note: I have no idea why I said this… There must have been a side convo going on that I was replying to that didn’t record! Because it’s clearly red… ha!)
Guin: Yeah, it is red.
Price: Yep, it looks red!
Avery: Rachel said that it tastes red
Rachel: Thatās what she said.
Jess: Tastes like good wine!
Claire: Whaaaat, Rachel? Thatās what she said?
Price: What now?
Austin: Weāre watching The Office right now so itās top of mind.
Laurel: Seth, do you have any good thoughts?
Seth: I donātā¦ I donāt. Iām sorryā¦
Claire: Iām sorry to disappoint you Laurel.
Guin: I definitely wish I wouldāve had this with a steak.
Price: Way to go, Laurel. You served this too late.
Laurel: I knew there was no way that was going to work. Iām not even sure this recording is working, there are so many people involved! Iām missing half of what is said.
Austin: Itās still good, Laurel.
Laurel: Thank you for still liking it! Price are there any notes on the back of the bottle about history or how to pair it?
Price: It says, āaccording to the surgeon general, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects.ā
Laurel: Iāve had like three tiny sips, thank you very much! But not tasting notes on the bottle?
Price: Nope, thatās basically all it says. And that itās red and from Italy. Thatās about the extent of the description.
Laurel: I do like the design of the bottle! The orange is fun.
Seth: Great looking bottle.
Guin: I do like the orange
Jessica: I like the orange.
Rachel: Is it citrusy at all?
Avery: No, I donāt think so.
Laurel: Itās just a good solid red.
Avery: It is a good solid red. Youād have to like red to enjoy it.
Laurel: Yes. Claire would not like it because she doesnāt like red. Not a good one to use in introducing people to red because itās pretty bold.
Avery: Totally agree!

And those were our thoughts on this bottle! Cool labelĀ design, good solid red with a little punch, and probably would’ve tasted great with a our steaks! I would 100% buy this bottle again. It’s right at $15. If you want to try it, head over to Colony Wine Market and grab some for yourself!
Thanks to my sweet friends for participating in this with me, and thanks to all of you for reading! Means so much to me!
Have a great start to your week and I’ll see ya back here soon! XO!
