Wow, what a busy month it has been!
I LOVE the Christmas season because it is filled with so much festivity and so much to do! But it can also wear ya out if you aren’t careful! We are officially back in town after traveling here and there for family gatherings and I could not be more excited to just be at home for a while. As much as I love parties and traveling, there’s a lot of me that just loves to be home and chillaxin. I think that means I’m getting old… AH! But whatever. I embrace it.
One fun thing that we did earlier in the month was host our fourth annual (kinda… We skipped last year due to the fact that we had a newborn this month last year!) Christmas With Cousin Eddie party!!!
You can read about years past here and here! {{ UPDATE! Read about CWCE 2017 here! }}
Planning for this year’s party had a new dimension of fun since we are in a new house this go-round! We did keep a lot of the tried and true details the same, though. Details such as…
… The Tylenol/white MnMs…
… The squirrel in the tree…
… The fried cat on the carpet…
… The display of this little gem that was gifted to us a couple of years ago…
… Moose mugs and nog…
… “Little Full, Lotta Sap” banner…
… The menu…
…which consisted of…
– Trailer Trash (which is just a homemade chex mix of sorts!)
– Everything but the Kitchen Sink cookies (which is literally a chocolate chip cookie recipe plus whatever I have in my pantry that year… These are always a hit and are so easy and fun! This year’s version had pretzels, coconut shavings, walnuts, butterscotch chips, white chocolate chips, craisins, oatmeal, MnMs, and crushed up potato chips!)
– Aunt Bethany’s Jell-O Mold (complete with Cheerios to represent cat food.) This is always put out more for visual effect than for actual consumption, yet every year it gets eaten! Not real sure why… It is not good with Cheerios in there! ha!
Different strokes for different folks, I guess…
– Ol Roy puppy chow (to represent the huge bag of dog food that Eddie buys for Snotts on his trip with Clark to Wal-Mart!)
– The Jelly of the Month Club tray! This is my favorite detail of the party I think! Complete with cheese and crackers. (This year I learned that you cannot beat the combo of pineapple jelly, pepperjack cheese, and a triscuit. OMG. So good!)
*** UPDATE! Printable Jelly of the Month Club labels are now available in the Etsy shop! View the listing here! ** ALSO! Food/drink labels are also available here! **
Price’s Cousin Eddie costume looked great, as always!
As shown in that pic, we did some fun little word bubbles with quotes from the movie for people to take pictures with! I’m sure I’ll add more next year! 🙂
** UPDATE! These quote bubbles, plus some more, are now available as printables in my etsy shop! View the listing here! **
This year’s house cocktail was a big batch of margaritas (using this recipe) entitled “Non-nutritive Cereal Varnish” to represent Clark’s brilliant invention at his workplace! It’s also the stuff he used to grease the bottom of his sled which made it go so fast!
Oh, and one of Price’s awesome co-workers loaned us this Chevy Chase cutout so we felt like we had Clark Griswold here with us this year!
We had so much fun celebrating one of our favorite movies with some of our favorite people and look forward to next year’s shindig!!
Did you go to any themed parties this Christmas? I’d love to hear all about them!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great last week of 2015!

Planning a Cousin Eddie party this year! Your post is great! Can you tell me where I can find your printables? especially the quotes?
I just made all of it in photoshop and printed it out at my house! Sorry I don’t have printables to share!! That’s a good idea though… I should work on that!
Did you ever work on the printable to share or buy?
Hey Karen! Yes, there are links to the printables for the quotes and for the Jelly of the Month Club labels! They are linked in the post right by the photos fo each of those things! 🙂
Hi there! I LOVE all of your ideas for the Griswold party! Did you play any games at your party? I am hosting one and am in need of entertainment ideas. I have lots of ideas for food and decor thanks to you!
So glad you like all these ideas!! No, we didn’t really have any games! With the quote bubbles, people took tons of photos, so that was an aspect of entertainment, in a way! Thanks so much for visiting my blog! 🙂 XO!
